Great robo vacuum; gets the job done
I got this as a Christmas gift for my wife since she has been wanting some kind of robot vacuum. Initially, I just looked at the Roomba models, but when I found out Samsung made these too, I took an interest because we have a lot of Samsung products. I did a lot of research and it seemed like the Samsung models seemed to have better reviews when compared to the Roomba in it's class, so I pulled the trigger and went with the Samsung. After only using it for a few days, we have been pretty impressed with it. We have four dogs, so naturally there is dog hair on the floor and this robot vacuum has been great at removing that dog hair (as well as dirt). There are some pros and cons to consider though. Pros: - Comes with a remote so you can kick off a cleaning at any time - Automatically docks when the battery gets low - Has great suction power - Has a turbo mode (more suction) option if you want to use it (drains battery faster) - Pretty easy to clean - Can go from hardwood to carpeted areas with no problem as long as there isn't a big height difference between them - Seems to be able to map out your floor plan pretty well; doesn't just vacuum by bumping into things blindly like other models do Cons: - No wifi; this might be a deal breaker for some because lack of wifi means you can NOT schedule a cleaning routine. You need the Samsung app to do that and it can't connect to this model since it does not have wifi - Since you can't schedule cleanings, you will always have to kick them off manually, so you can either do the Auto mode (it will clean everywhere it can until the battery gets too low and it must return to the charging dock), or you can do the Manual mode (you kick off the cleaning for a particular area and then tell it to return to the dock when finished) - It doesn't do well with cleaning in corners, but then again, most of these robot vacuums are rounded, so I don't know how they would clean corners anyway All in all, we're pretty happy with it. It would have been nice if this model had wifi and you could schedule cleanings, but it's not really a big deal. We can just kick off the Auto clean function in the morning before we leave for work or in the evening when we get home.

Not a good idea, find something better.
Started off liking this thing it worked pretty well for a month or so. The first problem came when it would no longer charge. I figured out it was the dock that was not working properly. Called Samsung and they sent a new dock out, and we are in business again for about one week. Next the unit completely quits. It will not take a charge, it will not turn on, it is totally dead. I get Samsung on the phone and the first rep tells me to purchase a new battery, they are only $1.82. Not true, they are $177 or so. I get Samsung on the phone again and explain that I am not paying that. They send out a return ticket for the product, and listen closely, no return shipping or prepaid shipping label. I am already unhappy at this point I am ready to go out and shoot the thing and post it on You tube. So the shipping costs me $38 bucks and I am at the point of Samsung if you will just give me my money back I will let it be. That doesn't seem to be an option, I mentioned it several times during the phone calls and they always directed me to another possibility. Seems like this would be a neat product to have especially if you are handicapped or lack the time to vacuum often. Don't count on it lasting very long! And if it does last long enough to replace the battery enjoy that cost!

Samsung R9000 Bot Vac
Overall this was a great buy (on sale for $350) and it has lived up to expectations so far. update~ July 2017, after 6 months, still happy with it and use it 2x per week on main floor, considering an upgrade for more features~ the main reasons for 4 stars (and not 5) - the lower fan setting, really doesn't do much even on tile/hardwood, was hoping that it would at least be moderately effective on hardwoods - this one is minor, the auto clean will not (always) make it to a new room on its own, I often need to guide it to a new area with remote's manual controls (I'm always pleasantly surprised when it seems to find its way into a new room without me) ~i understand this is programmable on newer/more advanced models~ Justification of 4 stars - the higher fan setting behaves like an upright vac, it really does well on my carpet which is thick but not tall -the battery lasts 40 min on high setting (1 hr on lower but I don't use that anymore) -no issues getting over door jams or with area rugs/entrance mats -easy to dump out waste canister -washable filter is a plus ~I recommend washing this every other week or more often if used daily, really helps to maintain suction when this is clean~ Random hopefully helpful thoughts to those considering to buy, or have recently bought -it will always turn the same way in its pattern when covering a room, just start it on the correct side of a new room and it will cover nearly all of it in 1 pass -it will get lost occasionally, or trapped, to help it in dining areas pull all chairs out so that it doesn't have to navigate table legs and chair legs, I pull my chairs back so that it has its full width or more between the chair legs and table legs and it does pretty well to clean the whole area -if you drive it to a new room (using remote) and press auto feature to have it clean the room then the home button when done, it seems to first return to where you pressed auto button then will retrace its steps back towards the charge station. -on a similar thought, if you carry it to a new area then start it up, it seems to have more trouble finding 'home' so it's better to drive than carry -when you first get it, try keeping its charge station in different areas to figure out where the auto clean pattern does the best to navigate. For reasons unclear to me, it does matter what room and what direction the bot is pointed in at the charge station, or at least seems to matter lol ~update on this, I've found a single location on my main floor that it will cover 100% of the carpeted area on main floor, just need to block it from backtracking... -this is not programmable and is lacking some software features of the more expensive models ****update: July 2019**** after 2.5 years of regular (nearly daily) use started to really slow down early this year no longer covers what it used to on full battery, charge lasts between 20 and 25 minutes now.

I am a little disappointed in this product so far
I am a little disappointed in this product so far. We've been using it a few months now, and if I had rated it in the first week it would've been 5 stars. However, after two months of using it between twice a week and once every two weeks, it seems to not be navigating well. The first floor of my house is laminate flooring, with a few rugs and runners throughout. We also have, in the foyer and in the kitchen, a flooring transition. Initially, the POWERbot had no problem getting up onto the rugs, or over the transitions. Now, it will try to get onto the rug or transition, give up, and turn around. Frustrating, to say the least, that I have to babysit the vacuum to place it onto a rug, or give it a little nudge to clear the transition. Additionally, my house has some non-standard angles and halls, and to date the POWERbot has not once decided to enter the hallway leading to the master bedroom. I was under the impression that over the course of a few uses, the robot would have effectively mapped out the layout of my house and would know the most efficient route to maximize it's battery life. That does not appear to be the case, as it will almost always leave the dock, hook a right, and drive 3 feet straight into my dining room table, spending 5 minutes awkwardly trying to get in between the legs of the chairs and table. And speaking of battery life and time in use, while in the first couple weeks it would seem to last between 90 minutes and 2 hours depending on being set on HIGH or LOW, now, only 3 months later, it seems to last only 45 minutes to an hour. This device has only been used about 4-5 times a month and should not be wearing out so quickly. I debated giving this a 2 star review, but what it does, it does well. With the exception of corners and areas it cannot reach, the POWERbot does an excellent job of picking up pet hair, dirt, and dust. While the collection bin doesn't seem that large (I generally find myself emptying the canister after about 30 minutes of use, then emptying again when it returns to the base), it does hold quite a bit and packs it in quite well. It also does an excellent job of navigating around obstacles (as long as they're not black! I don't think this robot can see black). It doesn't exactly navigate around objects in the most intuitive manner, however, and can sometimes get stuck in my kitchen while trying to get around my refrigerator.

Love, love love Florence the POwerBot
I received a different brand from my spouse off of groupon.(bObsweep Pethair robotic vacuum cleaner) I was constantly having to pick up items, help it maneuver, etc.. So being the geek and tech junkie that I am, I decided to buy a different one. Just like my cell phones, I love Samsung products. This one actually does a great job, moves around my house with no problem, transitioning from room to room, over thresholds no problem. It has some type of sensor that actually avoids BUMPING into stuff. Does an excellent job on my carpets. I love the vacuum lines after. I also use in my kitchen on the tile floors, works great and gets those areas along the baseboard. I only wish this model had a Schedule function. (ie... to have it clean at a set time and day). I love my Samsung powerbot, that I call Florence. She cleans the my main living areas, while the bOb has moved to the sunroom. 3/12/2019 Florence is on strike. She doesn't clean like she did at the beginning. Brushes are free of debris, no junk, pet hair or anything clogging it. The only thing it does, is makes nice pretty lines on the carpet. No pickup, empty tray after every cleaning.

This thing did awesome. We watched it the whole time
Just ran it for the first time. We have two high shedding dogs and we vacuum every day. We figured this would help out by keeping the living areas maintained. We wouldn't have to run the normal vacuum every day our selves. This thing did awesome. We watched it the whole time. It was pretty thorough, it even went back over areas after it finished the first time. It picked up all the lose debris and dog fur. It has 2 power setting for the suction power and we left it on the first for the hard floors. It's quiet enough to still have a normal conversation over it. It won't replace the normal vacuum, especially on normal carpet. But I think it will be awesome for maintaining between vacuum sessions For those who say it gets hung up on furniture, I have no idea what they're talking about. On its first run it never got hung up. Through our kitchen dining room and living room. Not one hang up.

Watch out... Product failure with ZERO support
Out of the box, this thing was weird, not living up to the description on Amazon or Samsungs sites. The vac has issues getting back to the charger, making logical passes and cleaning a room. Random would be fine, this seems crazy as it moved three inches turns and repeats. My unit finally died and the Amazon seller replaced the battery. It is dead again and the seller is not responding to me. I would say buy another version/product, be beware of the hassle of this thing. When the vac is working it seems to do a good job, just not on par with other options.

Not what we expected.
It worked, kind of. I ended up returning it. I have a large home and it got lost (too far from its charger) and tangled in furniture legs. It also left deep tracks in the carpet. When I opened the box, it said that it should not be used on deep pile carpet. I did have a large open game room where it did a good job. Overall, not what we had hoped for. Since then, I have had family members have terrible problems with Samsung customer service. My faith in the brand has been shaken.
