Enriched with high-quality proteins like whole salmon and shrimp, it delivers essential Omega-3 and astaxanthin to enhance fish coloration and health. The slow sinking granule format caters to natural feeding behaviors, while small-batch sustainable processing guarantees freshness and superior quality for tropical fish of all life stages. ## Description Fluval Bug Bites is a complete fish food that features a unique insect-based formulation, enriched with multiple quality proteins and carbohydrates that are ideal for tropical fish such as bettas, goldfish, cichlids, guppies, and tetras. Bug Bites’ daily diet color enhancing formula contains a significant amount of shrimp (a source of astaxanthin), which boosts the natural pigmentation in tropical fish. Insects are hunted by fish in the wild as they offer a widely available food source. The instinctive feeding habit is the foundation behind Bug Bites, which are formulated with nutrient-rich insect larvae and enriched with multiple quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Most freshwater fish are omnivores and regularly feed on insects in the wild. However, not all insects are created equally when it comes to a fish’s diet. Bug Bites are formulated with sustainably harvested Black Soldier Fly Larvae (#1 ingredient across all formulas), which are raised on fruits and vegetables for exceptional “super food” nutrition. Using a unique cultivation process, BSFL are grown under controlled conditions for total sustainability that preserves natural environments. Under controlled conditions, Black Soldier Flies produce larvae, which naturally feed on decaying organic matter. Unconsumed fruits and vegetables are used as larvae feed. The larvae consume the feed, converting the nutrients into protein and healthy fat. After a 2-week feeding cycle, the larvae are harvested and dried. The dried larvae are mixed with other high-quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements to offer a complete and balanced daily diet. In addition to BSFL, Bug Bites offer other excellent protein sources such as Herring & Shrimp Meal, which are also rich in Omega-3 for healthy skin, scales, fins and colors. Unlike big brand fish foods, Bug Bites are always prepared in small batches for superior control and quality assurance. The proximity of our ingredients (most of which are delivered right before production) also offers maximum freshness, which translates into better palatability. Review: Great food, but shipping needs improvement - Great food, but shipping needs improvement My fish absolutely love Fluval Bug Bites! It's a high-quality food, and they eagerly eat it every feeding. I've had great results with it and will definitely continue buying it. The only issue wasn't with the product itself—it was with the shipping. desertcart sent it in a non-padded paper mailer, and it arrived with the cap off, the seal broken, and flakes scattered all over inside the package. Fortunately, enough food was still usable, but I hope desertcart packages these better in the future. I may just stick to buying it from Petco like I have in the past so I don't have to worry about it arriving damaged. The product itself still deserves 5 stars! Review: Best Flakes out there. All members of my community tank love them! - I bought these flakes and they are a great upgrade from the API tropical flakes I was using. The flakes are bigger, more "crunchy", and just look more "appetizing" haha. Picture shows Bug Bites on the left and API tropical flakes on the right. You can easily grind them to any size you need based on your fish. All my fish love them...more than love...they go freaking nuts for them! Gold Honey Gourami, Harlequin Rasboras, Platys, Corydoras, Amano shrimp, RCS, Snails. EVERYTHING in my tank eats them (in additon to a few other foods occasionally). These flakes is also better for your fish health and water quality compared to others. I have noticed a little color improvement but let's be honest, flakes are flakes, and there are higher quality types of foods for selective desires (live/frozen foods). The container is a good size for the money and happy with my purchase. ## Features - Tropical fish food that contains up to 40%, nutrient-rich Black Soldier Fly Larvae, the first ingredient - High in multiple proteins like whole salmon – rich in Omega 3 and 6 for healthy skin, scales and fins - Fortified with essential vitamins, amino acids and minerals for a balanced daily diet - Slow sinking granule format (5-7mm) – all fish can feed at their preferred depth; feed as much as fish can eat in two minutes, two or three times daily - Sustainably processed in small batches for quality control and maximum freshness ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07BYWHCJ2 | | Additional Features | Contains nutrient-rich Black Soldier Fly Larvae (#1 ingredient) for superior fish nutrition and sustainability. | | Age Range (Description) | All Life Stages | | Age Range Description | All Life Stages | | Allergen Information | Brazil Nuts Free | | Animal Food Diet Type | Veterinary Diet | | Animal Food Nutrient Content Claim | High Protein | | Best Sellers Rank | #5,511 in Pet Supplies ( See Top 100 in Pet Supplies ) #39 in Aquarium Fish Food | | Brand | Fluval | | Brand Name | Fluval | | Breed Recommendation | Medium Breeds | | Container Type | Bottle | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 out of 5 stars 2,947 Reviews | | Dog Breed Size | Medium | | Flavor | Fish | | Global Trade Identification Number | 10015561165904 | | Included Components | 1 Food Canister | | Item Form | Granule | | Item Type Name | Fish Food | | Item Weight | 3.5 ounces | | Manufacturer | Rolf C.
