These lumbar pillow inserts (4/pack) are soft, plump and well made. The outer fabric is like a thick cotton cheesecloth, but smooth and sturdy -- not as dense as bed pillow fabric, but also not like some inserts which have a thin, weak, fuzzy fabric as the cover. The inserts arrived in a vacuum pack (air removed), but as soon as you rip a hole in the covering plastic bag, the pillows expand immediately and automatically to their full size (kids would love to watch it ). The inserts fit perfectly into the same-size pillow covers that I ordered separately. I'm not sure if the inserts are meant to be washable, but I put them inside mesh laundry bags and washed them on cold, gentle, low-spin cycle (front-load washer). They came out just as perfect, intact and fluffy as they went in (no lumps). They air-dried in one day on a clothes rack. Given that dust mites build up in all pillows over time, it's nice to be able to clean and freshen up these inserts occasionally. Happy to recommend this product to others.

Nearly 6 inches think. Firmness is medium. Almost broke the zipper on the cheap little 18" x 18" shams I bought for them trying to stuff them in. So I'm pleased. As for the waterproofing... Haven't tested it out yet. Can't beat the price!

Pillow puff up nicely to size. If you like all corners filled in I recommend getting slip covers that are one size down from the pillow size. Take care when inserting the pillow if you go with small size as it easy to rip the seem of the pillow cover. I folded the pillow in half and inserted into the opening. Pillow filled the covers nicely. If you're OK with empty corners then same size slip cover is for you and that works well too. We are happy with everything.

Poor Quality -- Shriveled ---Wizened---Rough made, NOT sure if it's waterproof , there are no sign and label clearly pointed out, maybe it's the nasty way to avoid the legal responsibility, I do not think it's waterproofed after I compared with the waterproof pillows that I bought in actual store, I already returned it.

I was amazed at how bad these were based on the reviews if I could give zero stars I would. They are made out of what looks like the doctors office pillow covers you know the ones they just throw away after each use. Two of them didn’t even have enough stuffing to fill the pillow and those that do are so flimsy.I will be returning and never buying again.the quality would be what I would expect from a dollar store or less.
