The "powder" is a solid mass.
The "powder" is a solid mass. I had to take a meat pounder to the bag to break it up, then use my blender to re-powder it. I will see if it re-solidifies in my jar with a rubber gasket.

Expensive sugar. Good flavor but not special.
This is like a strong brown sugar: dark and molasses-y. It's great for recipes that call for brown sugar and it adds a really deep caramel flavor. However, it's still just sugar, a relatively small amount, and I can't really wrap my head around justifying the price for what is a really cheap crop to grow. I realize the processed mainstream sugars on the market have all kinds of health concerns springing from how they are processed and it's great having a less mangled product but even raw sugarcane is not that expensive to produce! If you use this for baking, you will go through the bag in one or two recipes and if you use it for things like coffee or tea, it's still sugar and won't help your health any just because it's more fancy.(It is clumpy so it requires some breaking up which isn't that big of an issue.)

Delicious
So yummy! Love it and love that it’s a more nutrient-dense sugar.

Save Your Money
This is the most awful product. It arrives as solid as a rock. It is non-usable. I tried to soften it, I tried to grind it (broke a food processor in the process), I soaked it. It is just the worst! Do yourself a favor and don't buy! And, this awful "sugar" is non-returnable! What a joke for $36.95. Awful! Terrible!

It comes in brick form and is expensive, but it’s good, and healthier than sugar!
I was a little surprised when this showed up in my hands, hard as a literal rock! I really had no clue at that time, but after some research on Yacon powder, it comes this way, like in a state of brown sugar, in a brick that you can smash, I suppose. It may harden up again, not sure on that, but you can put it in a glass jar like we did, and chip away at it, little by little. This is the way we like to use it.I had never before tasted Yacon powder, but I used to have a HUGE sweet tooth, but in trying to lose weight and calories, and just improve my overall health, I cut back SO much, that I started drinking my coffee black! Ick, right? This is sooo much better, and only 1/2 the calories of sugar. A little bit of this stuff goes a long, long way, so the price is more justified to me, but what’s the difference between this and the Panela powder/ sweetener that is far cheaper? This I do not know, however, I like this stuff. It’s terrific for diabetics who are needed to be on a very low sugar diet. In fact, it’s very low glycemic, so it’s much better to be used for diabetics, or people who are at risk of it. With 1/2 the calories of sugar, it helps you stay fit or get fitter, just your average person, in general. The taste is acquired, but to me, is really quite good. Can you tell the difference between it and regular sugar? Yes, it does taste different, but not in a bad way to me. It’s also organic and vegan. It comes from the African Yacon root. Maybe that is where the higher price comes into play? I don’t know, but all around it is a great sugar alternative, that I think will be palatable to most, but it’s not cheap, and it will come in a big brick inside of the bag, so just expect that, prior to ordering. That sort of caught me off guard. All in all, I’m happy to have tried this product, and will continue to use it in my coffee, etc. and encourage the kids to use this instead of sugar for their future health, as well.4 stars for this Yacon powder/ sugar alternative.*I hope my review has been helpful :)!*

Expensive for sugar
I love to bake and am always trying to find a way to make the things I bake more healthy. I saw this sugar and was intrigued and wanted to try it. I think it is okay--it is similar to brown sugar. I used it to make bread and some cookies and it worked well. My issue is that it is pretty expensive. If you do use this for baking, it will be gone pretty quickly. I have bought the Splenda brown sugar blend at the store and it has less calories and is the same size bag, but it costs less than half the price. If this was a little more affordable, I might try it again, but at this price, I won't be buying this again.

Unpalatable
This was a “powder” product. It arrived as hard as a brick. This product was mishandled, somewhere along the line. The product was NOT fresh.

Perfectly sweet – arrives in one hard block
I like this Yacon powder, although it arrived to me in one hard heavy lump of a block. Similar to what happens with brown sugar. Now you can chip away at it as needed – or do as I did and break it apart a bit and then put in the blender to get it back to a sugary powder. It will just make it that much easier to reach for and use.I am not a fan of extremely sweet stuff unless it has something to do with dessert so this stuff is perfect in coffee. It is milder and a bit mellower than sugar and to me has a richer flavor too. It is still plenty sweet. It is MUCH healthier as this stuff is also good for diabetics as it is low on the glycemic index. So better for everyone of us too then. It also has potassium and improves gut bacteria. Plus this particular one is ORGANIC! Nice!It is a 5 star product but I almost deducted a star for the trouble of having to grind the big block. If you found my review helpful, why not click the “helpful” button. Thanks!
