This works, and it’s something to cherish
This has been an incredible resource for my toddler and I. Weaning has been such a daunting task, but my daughter loves the moon so when I found this it was perfect! I find her reading (looking at the pictures) it throughout the day on her own and she asks me to read it every night it’s apart of our night time routine. I am so thankful to this author for making weaning a beautiful celebration of a wonderful journey of nursing. I think it prepares toddlers for change and encourages empathy which is so genius. I can’t recommend this enough.

So helpful!
This is a beautiful book which helped me wean my last baby. I wasn't sure how to go about it and had a lot of emotions regarding weaning and this book helped put those anxieties at ease by giving me a plan! The story is so sweet, well written and the illustrations are beautiful. There's a part in the back for parents giving suggestions on how to use the book for successful gentle weaning which so aligned with our parenting philosophy. I knew I was ready when I could read the part where they both let the magic go and didn't sob! Haha. My baby nursed for 2 years 7 months and the ritual of sending it back to the moon was a tangible event we could talk about when he felt the urge to nurse. He felt really proud of himself and would exclaim, "Back to the moon!" And point up at the sky. We modified the ritual (because helium is too expensive lol) and put glow sticks in a balloon and blew it up, tied it to a place positioned within sight of the moon and I told him "Once all the light fades from the balloon, that means all the magic has returned to the moon!" My older child also enjoyed this ritual and added to the excitement. It also have him a narrative about his weaning process too (he self weaned when I got pregnant with my second). They both enjoyed the book and this ritual so much and I can't recommend this enough! We modified the story to fit our language around nursing , so instead of booby moon/booby milk we called it milky moon/milky milk.

Great for breastfed toddlers
Works amazing! My daughter was nursing for nap time and bed time but also wanting to nurse all night. She initially hated this book but then started asking for it as we got closer to her 2nd birthday. We had one last feed to sleep on her birthday and she has done great with it. Cannot recommend this book enough. I think it really helps them mentally prepare.

Must buy
I will start by saying I read reviews on everything however I never write them. My almost 2 year old was boobie obsessed. Would ask for it every 2 hours just because she wanted my attention and I knew it was just time to stop. However, I could not put up with the crying and temper tantrums I knew that it was going to cause. Sooo, I did some research and came across this book. I bought it 2 months before her birthday and read it almost everyday. As we would read, some days she was accepting and said “bye bye” and some days she would say “NO! My boobie” but I would just read it and mostly talk about it. Her birthday came and we talked about it all day. Then we released the balloon. She was more sad that the balloon was gone. Since it was her birthday, I let her have one last feed. I am currently writing this after 24hrs of no boobie. She asked for it 3-4 times, cried a little (no uncontrollable temper tantrums) AND even went to bed WITHOUT! I am so amazed and I cannot recommend this book anymore. If this book can work on my boobie obsessed child then it can work for all! If you are lost! Try it!! It’s only $13 if it doesn’t work 😊 totally worth a shot

Worked better than expected
This book worked wonders for my two year old. Easiest weaning (out of 3 kids). I got some balloons for a birthday that have a light inside and I had leftover helium. I read him the book every day for a couple of months and when we sent the balloons up it was nothing but excitement. It's been over a month without booby. First couple of weeks we would discuss the milk going up to the moon for the babies with no teeth who can't eat regular food. Now it's seldomly brought up!

Helped wean my toddler off the boob at 2 years old!
This book is amazing. I nursed my daughter for over 2 years and to say that she was obsessed with the boob is an understatement. We read it for about 2 months and it really helped me wean my daughter when I truly thought there was no end. I will say that at first she refused to read the book after the first time. Probably because she didn’t like what it was about. We didn’t do the balloon ceremony thing, but I would remind her that mama’s booby milk went to the moon whenever she would ask to nurse. At 2.5 years old, she still asks to read the book and enjoys it.I only took one star off because the book is very cheaply printed. Regardless it was still worth the money because of how well it helped me wean my daughter.
