I prefer the more compact size, yet stronger massage and greater head travel. It is also significantly quieter. I can use this while watching TV, and NOT adjust the TV volume. I found the loaner to be hard to use watching TV, even if turned up. I also see now that I prefer the 5 gear speeds/power steps, to some model’s and my friends, 30 steps. It becomes more of a chore to adjust the intensity. When you spread the 2000 additional revolutions over 30 steps (starting at usually about 1000 at level 1), your talking about a pretty imperceptible difference per step. This massager decides the into 5ths, and it is perfect IMO. I also like the inclusion of a couple of stainless steel heads for use with massage oils. Very nice and useful feature. I haven't tried most of the head's (they seem a little aggressive to be honest) but the main ball attachment works wonders on my aches and pains.
