Tastes Like Home, But a Bit Pricey
Iwisa Super Maize Meal is my go‑to whenever I’m missing South African food. On days when I crave something familiar, pap is the first thing I cook, and Iwisa gives me that perfect texture and taste I grew up with. It’s smooth, cooks evenly, and always comes out just right — whether I’m making it soft or stiff. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. It’s definitely more expensive than what we’d pay back home, but I understand it’s imported. Still, the quality and the nostalgia make it worth it for me. If you’re South African and miss home, this is one of those products that instantly brings back memories. I’ll keep buying it whenever I need that comforting taste of pap.

I made both porridge and stiff porridge using this type of maize meal. Very taste and delicious. It deserves a five star rating.

Quality Nsima Ingredient
I purchased this to share with my English class, where we are reading "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind." Nsima was a staple food that the author described in the book. I found a recipe online and my class sampled the food. I don't have a refence to other similar products, but I felt it tasted fine (if bland) and my students were (mostly) interested in trying the food. If I use this book again in my classes, I'll buy this same product again.
