GritomaticCowhide Leather Strop 4" x 1" with Aluminum Mounting for KME

Excellent for the price! I purchased this to use with my green strop compound and it works like a champ- especially when taking price in consideration. Is the quality comparable to a KME kangaroo strop- not quite. But is the KME worth over 2x the price? - No! These work as a strop should. Yes they are a little thicker than the KME diamond stones and strops, however, you can quickly adjust for this by either using a sharpie marker, KME thickness compensater, angle cube, or a free angle app on your mobile phone. Another poster said the leather doesn't got to the edge of the aluminum plate backing. They're correct. So what? i never draw my stones to the very edge anyway- you will catch the edge. missing a couple mm doesn't make a difference. The aluminum backing was finished better than my KME strop. The leather is thicker but plenty firm- you should not have an issue rounding your apex- if you do, then you are doing something wrong. I plan to buy more of these to use with other emulsions and compounds.

As stated in other reviews, this strop is about twice as thick as the diamond plates that come with the KME. This means you have to readjust your angle when you get to actually using it. The kangaroo strops (available on kmes site) are the same thickness and are FAR better strops. I recommend those over this Cowhide strop.

Great replacement or addition to your one sharpening system leather is a little thicker (not a bad thing) so using the stone thickness compensator is recommended to keep proper angle

These are a total loss. The aluminum backing is crudely cut with sharp edges. The leather is poorly glued to the aluminum and it doesn't even cover the entire backing. The whole thing is comically thick and unusable. Waste of money.

This little strop is awesome.
