Hello, I'm pretty sure these will work. These are 9.9" when closed but that usually doesn't matter as long as it's shorter (rather tahn longer) that the 12" you need. 45 lbs might be a bit much for light aluminum doors unless it's a commercial unit or a heavier door. If they don't work. you can return them, no problem. Thank you!

Q: will these replace C1621794 711499?

Not sure about part numbers, I just used extended and compressed length matching up to units they where replacing on truck canopy. Get as close as possible to original units.

Q: How many lbs will this hold using both uplifters? 90lbs?

These are rated for 45lbs each so two will hold 90lbs. I’d get 55lb strut if u are needing to support 90lbs. Remember you are only supporting half the weight since the hinge I supporting the other half.

Q: question for truck upfitters. you reccomended i use the 45 lbs for my snug top as apposed to the 38lbs. the ones on it now are 16". will 17" work?

they are working great on my shell. the back on mine is taller, so a larger glass 38lbs would probably be fine also
