Same model that the pros used, easy to install, complete with separate check valve
My heating contractor wanted $79 to replace one of these automatic air vents, so I decided I would just order this and replace it myself. It is the exact same model number that was on my system, except this one came with a separate check valve in addition to the standard vent. Replacing it was easy - just shut off the water supply and use the existing ball valves to isolate the boiler, open the boiler drain until the pressure gauge drops to zero. Unscrew the old air vent, put Teflon tape on the new one, and screw it on. Reverse the process and you're all done in 10 minutes. Be sure to keep the plastic vent screw on top loose to allow the air to escape. The separate check valve is nice, because next time I have to replace it I won't have to drain the system. Note that this air vent has a slightly narrower profile than the standard Taco air vent, which made all the difference in the world for me because there was a riser pipe close enough to the air vent that would not allow the Taco to fit. The 1/8" narrower profile of the Caleffi worked out perfectly.

Good vent but check valve needs improvement
I like the air vent, however check valves, fails in less than a month, for me. Second one already and causes a big mess. Great idea, but unfortunately, check valve clogs too easily.

Very good quality
This air vent is great quality and easy to replace. Best of all, it comes with a check valve so future replacement won’t require draining of boiler or closing of valves

Some failed. cleaning wont fix
I orderd a BUNCH of these for the house, but after a 2nd year 2 of them have failed and wont release air. I have taken it apart to clean it, but that didnt help, i checked the float it floats. I i move the valve by hand and blow i can get air to move, but on its own nothing happens. Ill be picking a different brand
