Extraordinary book
"Art does not reproduce the visible; rather, it makes visible" [Kunst gibt nicht das Sichtbare wieder, sondern macht sichtbar.], Paul Klee, Creative Credo [Schöpferische Konfession] , 1920.

A very strange book
This is an odd one. I was very much looking forward to the book because it was described as the work of a photographer who had visited and photograghed Brion numerous times. Which turned out to be true. But...many of the same views of the tomb are repeated 5 or 6 times in full-page photos. If the lighting of each had been markedly different, that could have been interesting. But most are shot with flat lighting and are nearly identical. The kicker is that some well-known aspects of the tomb (the arch or vault) aren't depicted at all anywhere in the book! Also, many interesting details are ignored. So the book is a sadly wasted opportunity for a thorough photograghic monograph of an important modernist / organic work of architecture.

unmissable book
