Legere Tenor Sax Reed (TS2.5)

Not so resonant

Initial impressions are excellent. My first dive into the world of synthetic reeds since the awful ones I tried in the mid 80s and it's shattered my prejudice against them. There's an ever so subtle difference in feel to a cane reed but after 30 minutes or so I'd become completely accustomed to it. It blows consistently and cleanly from low B flat all the way through the altissimo register. Bell tone pianissimo is good. Tuning and intonation is consistent everywhere. Staccato is crisp and clean. The sound is quite dark; not bright and edgy but I understand that this is the nature of the Legere 'classic' and it's the 'cool jazz' sound I prefer....think Lester Young, Stan Getz etc. I'm very happy to stay with it and turn my back on the '1 goodish reed in 5' that was the norm with cane reeds. I've been blowing Rico 3-3.5 reeds for donkeys years and as the research I did suggested, this 2.5 is a good equivalent. I only received it yesterday and I've played it for about 5 hours so I can't comment on longevity but I can report that it was good to go from the off and didn't need blowing in; its character and feel remained consistent. I'd recommend any sceptic give one a try....I'm impressed.

I normally use a 2.5-3.0 normal read but I find this 2.5 just too stiff to get a good sound. I have to blow much harder. I have only been playing for 18 months so I could be the problem rather than the read.

I wasn’t sure about a “plastic” reed but DANG! It’s nice!!! Feels great too and has an amazing sound. Worth the money!!

Ich habe dieses Blatt für mein Xaphoon gekauft, nachdem ich darüber gelesen hatte. Ich bin ganz angetan davon. Der Sound gefällt mir, aber das ist vermutlich Geschmackssache. Weitere Pluspunkte sind die Haltbarkeit und und Hygiene. Sollte es doch irgewann abgenutzt sein, kann ich mir gut vorstellen, es erneut zu kaufen.
