Great option for tool box liner
I purchased this as an alternative to foam liners for an older Craftsman tool cart. I had previously purchased and lined the drawers with a perforated foam. I had noticed a while back that some of my plastic tools were sticking to the foam and eventually discovered some cheaper tools actually melting over time. From what I have read, this is due to some of the chemicals used in creating that style of liner. I did not really want to take that chance again and was pretty familiar with the consistency of automotive carpet and saw that suggestion online. This arrives folded in a rectangle and does take a little bit of time to flatten to eliminate wrinkles. It is about 1/8" thick - so it will eliminate rattling but it is not going to cushion things too much. To adhere it to the drawers, I cut it to shape and used carpet tape in the corners and middle (can get it any detail hardware store). The material cuts pretty easy with a decent set of scissors and going slow. I used a permanent marker and square to mark my lines. This has worked great for my purposes. I like the lighter gray color in my black drawers as it prevents things from disappearing. Great cost and I was able to line four drawers with it (with some leftover). Time will tell for longer term durability but I expect this to last as long as the prior foam with none of the downside.

Manage your expectations people.
Don't listen to the crybaby over dramatic 1 and 2 star reviews. This product is fairly obvious what it is. It certainly isn't a "carpet" in the sense that you would be walking on it. It is automotive fabric for upholstering speaker boxes, panels, etc. It isn't too thin...about 3/16" of an inch. Has decent stretch, but don't pull it to the point of ripping the material apart from itself. It isn't woven like carpet. It is obviously more of a felt type of material. The reason I give it 4 stars, is it should be packaged as shown in the image(rolled) instead of folded. The result is you can see the lines in the material. If you use contact adhesive and you are mindful of pulling out the folds as you apply it, it isn't that big of a deal. You could also iron them out with low heat if you desire. Also don't sit there and brush at it vigorously like a knob. You will damage the material. You can vacuum it to clean it, but don't use any kind of mechanical spinning device or something with hard bristles that will pull the material apart. Mind your expectations and understand that this is the cheapest automotive/utility upholstering material you will find on amazon, and rate it properly.

Not "Carpet"
This is definately NOT carpet. Just a thin piece of black felt. Not at all what I was expecting. Came folded, not rolled, so I had to spend about an hour trying to iron out all the wrinkles and creases. Since it was not a major project, I went ahead and used it. While it did eventually smooth out and looked better, I don't have much confidence that it will hold up, but time will tell. Would not advise using it on floorboards, or anywhere that there will be much wear. Updated 04/25: Thought I would come back and update this review after about 1 year of product use. So far the "felt" has held up ok. Keep in mind, I used this to cover a "pet board" that is located behind the seat of my Toyota Tacoma pickup. There is not a lot of wear and tear going on. Mainly our 2 little dogs can ride back there and have a nice smooth area to lay down or move around. The color has stayed fast, and so far no rips or tears. I did upgrade the review from 2 to 3 stars. I still would not recommend this for high wear areas like floorboards, but to cover a speaker box, trunk area, or similar, it should be fine.

Not bad for speaker covering too
I covered a speaker with this stuff. Nice n thick. Just cut it and glue it. Added protection for the speaker and my car. Too easy.

Perfect for my needs
I'm adding shelves/supports in my Winchester safe. Ordered this as it appeared to match the color and it is actually very close in color to what is in there already. Texture-wise I'd say this is thick felt, not "carpet" like the description says. My only gripe is that it shows in the picture that it is on a roll, but it comes folded-which is annoying as it creates lines where it is folded. I was able to use spray adhesive and it stayed where it was supposed to, but you can definitely see the line. Not a deal breaker for me, but for something that will be more visible it is something to consider. Overall, it did the job for me.

Junk. Not carpet. Not on a roll. Not โhigh qualityโ.
THIS STUFF IS A TOTAL JOKE. Now yes, technically if you watch the video in the second thumbnail (I know that now after the fact) youโll know itโs junk before you buy it and you can decide then if it suits your project. However, if you just look at the thumbnail youโll think youโre getting the stuff that you buy at Auto Zone that comes in a roll. This isnโt that, and itโs certainly not โcarpetโ. Not suitable for trunk carpet or fully 90% of the things they say it can be used for. Itโs for a first grader that has a craft project. Or maybe you want to make a cape for those fancy nights outโฆ or a napkin for those fancy nights in. Itโs literally felt. Thatโs it. No backing, just felt. And? If you were desperate and willing to pretend it was anything even close to carpet, it wouldnโt last, it wouldnโt stay put, and itโd look dumb as all getup because ITโS NOT ON A ROLL. Itโs folded like a bed sheet. Makes sense though since itโs the same thickness as a bed sheet. Unfold it and the creases stay there.
