Will this work for 48 inch by 80 inch patio screen door?

What size did you buy? Is my question to you. But, I will add here, you need at least 2'" over lap of the screen channel-that's where the cord is that holds the screen in the frame. I say 2" because you want to grip onto the screen when you are putting it into the frame to be secured. You will cut the excess off later.

Is this have privacy during the day

Yes, very much so. I live in Arizona. The valley of the sun, and have the screen up on my security door. From outside, I could not see into the house unless I pressed my face up against the screen. It's great keeping gnats, sunlight and nosey neighbors out.
