this product works great for me. i live in a tiny home with no pee trap in the shower. I also only have a small 20 gallon hot water heater and use a low pressure shower head with low water adjustment turned down to save water since I enjoy my hot showers.. this product drains good even with low water pressure going in the drain.. the only time it drains slower for me is because hair has accumulated in the hair catcher.. once cleaned it drains great and back to normal.. the cleaning is very easy, just pop off the drain cap in shower and clean filter and unscrews the valve and check to make sure no hair is there to be cleaned out,, very easy and quick just a few minutes of my time.. i do recommend this item if your willing to do quick maintenance on it.. 5 stars for me,, it was needed,, no more smell,,

A neat little unit but does need to be trimmed and in my case I had to use a dremel tool to shape the flange to fit the smaller PVC pipe that was installed in the shower floor. Nicely prevents sewer gas from coming up through the drain and should prevent back flow of water as well. The prices for similar units vary from about 30-70 bucks, but this one works fine.

Easy to install, the water does drain a bit slower. I bought it for two reasons, one to prevent back flow, the other is prevent radon gas from entering. Very happy with the product.

I used this in my condo utility room, where the vertical washer/dryer combo fits. The original drain in the floor is partially situated underneath the heavy washer, making it impossible to access the drain for cleaning. Additionally, the pipe lacks a "J" hook to prevent sewer gases from entering. So, I wanted something that I could only raise the washer/dryer unit up one time to remove the original drain screen and replace it with one that would seal out gases and any potential cockroaches, while having access to the one-way valve in case my water heater broke or the lines to the washing machine broke. This fits perfectly on the outer circumference of the floor and the inner circumference of the drain, without applying any pressure to the drain from the washer. I tested the drain by pouring a 2-gallon bucket of water on the tile floor (as if the water heater or hose to the washing machine had ruptured). The drain worked perfectly and quickly cleared the water from the floor; I no longer have a sewer issue. I also installed an alarm on the floor that contacts my phone and a digital security camera for remote viewing. Alexa automatically turned off my water heater pipe to prevent continuous water from entering the utility room. This setup has given me peace of mind when I'm away from home. I highly recommend this inexpensive solution to solve my unusual situation.
