Great book. I enjoyed it.
The title of this book does not deceive – this book was certainly emotional. Bikul Koirala delivers a powerful narrative about Ram, a young boy who grows up near the Himalayas. His family is by no means wealthy, and despite criticism from outsiders, Ram finds happiness and appreciation for the things he does have. Things change when his father sends Ram to Kathmandu, where he will do household chores for a family in exchange for an education. Life is very, very different there – especially when it came to relationships and kindness – but it opens Ram’s eyes to a new way of life. Ram then gets a lucky opportunity to work in Egypt as well as an opportunity to marry a girl and find even more happiness. The end of the book is shocking, to say the least, but it just adds to the life lessons that can be gained from this book. Even though this book was mostly fiction, albeit being based a lot on real life in Nepal and other areas, I think everyone could learn a thing or two about new experiences, gratitude, contentment, and love from reading this book.

Interesting.....
The story was interesting and a quick read. However I did not like the abrupt ending. I felt like I was left hanging.

Good Story - Poor Writing
I was captivated by the story and didn’t want to put the book down. The reason I gave it only three stars is I found the writing to be oversimplified.

almost like the Cliffnotes to the real book
It was very superficial, almost like the Cliffnotes to the real book. I could probably have written this story, and I’ve never even been to Nepal. It also had a lame ending.

Not my kind of ending
The writing is very good and the story was engaging, but I cannot recommend this book because of the ending.

Great Book!
I really enjoyed reading “Dreams from Nepal” and found it hard to put the book down. The author did a great job developing the characters and allowing us to get to know the culture through them.

Good, but...
Loved the story but hated the ending. And there were also loose ends in the book that were never resolved.

Great novel that lacked finish
"Dreams from Nepal: The Emotional Story of a Twelve-Year-Old Nepali Boy" by Bikul Koirala...what can I say??? Wonderful, engaging characters with descriptions that pulled you into the story. As great a the story was, the ending was more disappointing! This could easily have been a 5-star novel if the author had a more developed ending.
