I have several 8' long X 10" wide X 2.5" think oak planks. Will this work to keep the entire plank from splitting and cracking?

I use Anchorseal to keep bowl turning blanks (logs 2-4 ft long, up to 14 inches in diameter) from splitting. You have to apply it as soon as possible after cutting it to seal up the end grain. If a crack has started before coating the end, that crack will likely continue to propagate. For planks you would still coat the end grain and stack the planks with stickers between them as usual. Keep out of direct sun and allow good air circulation Omer the stack. If a plank has any cracks showing on the end grain after you’ve ripped them, I’d trim off the section with the cracks and the coat the fresh end grain with I think that will work to limit future cracking.

Anchorseal has not been rated for food grade. Typically, Anchorseal is used in the production of the wood products, then once that wood is dry and Anchorseal removed, the wood is processed and finished for a range of applications..

Can you use this product on white birch slices that will be used as wedding centerpieces? These slices need to look amazing.

You would only use Anchorseal on the end grain part of the slices. It will darken the wood and result in a waxy surface. You might be better off getting the birch kiln dried to minimize checking of the slices.

What's the coverage? How many sq ft will one gallon seal.?

According to there website: : 100 sq. ft./gallon, depending on application method and wood species

Log and Lumber end sealer

Great product, we ordered it to seal the ends of of freshly cut logs while we store them before using them for wood carving projects. Have only put it on and so far working great. Easy to apply, but should use outdoors. Easy cleanup with soap and water.

Good for timber framing

I used it for Timber framing joints. Looks like heavy cream. Cleans up easy, dries quickly. It actually helps chisel the finish mortise or tenon.
