Yes, but if you have a large area to do the discs will get gunked up with paint. Might want to use paint remover and a metal scraper.

They are actually VERY good on wood. Much faster than most sanders. You have to have a steady hand though.

I wouldn't recommend this for sanding a Jon boat as too much pressure with a grinder could penetrate the skin of the boat.

I would think 80 grit would do best for the light work you’re describing.
