Hi, you can fit in your colapsable walking stick. But this makes it hard for the bag to get the most. We recommend you the size 24L. You could fit in your 16 1/2 inches walking stick and still enough space for your other gear. The 16L is 0.2LB, the 24L is 0.3LB, we have minimized the gap between the two. So when you are worried that 16L is too small, you can feel free to choose 24L.
