Could you potentially change out the basket for a different brand? Is the base of the basket wood and it just screws into the tree/post?

Yes, you could potentially do this.

How tall is this? I want my cat to be able to escape my mini poodle.

The specifications probably give an exact answer, but it is as high as the fireplace mantle. A dog might stand up and reach the lower level, but cats are escape and climbing artists.

How can I entice my 5 month old kitten to use this? He will climb everything in my home except this tree and is scared to jump up to the top part :(

Cats definitely have different personalities, so they are not all going to respond the same way to the same thing. My cat loves this tree so much, and uses all of it. But I have a scratching ball that other cats seem to adore, and I can’t get her to use it. You should put the cat and some thing he really likes in the top basket together. Like a favorite toy or something. Or catnip if he likes it. Try to get him to associate positive things with using it. Maybe it will work.

When you say every part is replaceable is the fur coating on the bottom and middle level possible to remove?

So the platform the fur is on can be replaced. The für does not come off the middle and bottom platform.
