An improvement over my Nikon for Streaming etc
Love the quality. I do have an ATEM from Blackmagic Design but even without working with the controls on the ATEM the BMS4K looks amazing - I paired it with a 12MM Cine MFT lens and it is just great looking. I can even turn down the intensity of my lighting.

SDI Won't send Video
At the minute I am giving this a one with update to follow. I bought this and brought it to Jamaica to replace cameras in my church. We recently redid our wiring to SDI and have an SDI multiview monitor to take in our camera feeds from the sanctuary. We then convert that to signal to HDMI and send the outs from the monitor to our ATEM mini pro. When I connect the camera to our SDI cables we got nothing into the monitor. I went and bought a shorter SDI cable and connected the camera directly to the monitors and still nothing. I went to another monitor system and the same thing occurred. This leads me to believer that the SDI out on the camera is defective. I will be taking the camera trying other ways to troubleshoot, but at the moment I am unable to use this camera after paying almost 75% of the purchase cost to get this to Jamaica. REALLY SADDENED BY THIS!!!

Studio Camera 4K Pro - Too Affordable?
So I recently started renting the BlackMagic Studio Camera 4K Pro’s (in sets of3). They tick a lot of boxes. Here’s how it’s played out:Positive experiences:1. I don't have to bring an extra monitor for each camera2. Image quality has been fantastic (except for glitches listed below).3. I can control the image from the ATEM software to get it to look right after it goes through all of the stream compression, etc.4. The on-camera XLR inputs allow me to have good sync from a professional mic or mixer5. The external USB "focus demand" control is great (hate that vinyl wire and tiny screw though)6. Big tally lights are often requested, and hugely appreciated.7. M 4/3 lenses are half the price of others and Panasonic / Olympus makes some great ones. (I often use the 10-25 and 25-50mm f1.7's). Sometimes I rent Fujinon.8. Front panel controls are good.9. The promise of one day having a totally Ethernet cable system (Ethernet/NDI switcher please) is hopeful for larger live events.10. The accessories all feel robust (except for the little USB cables and some stripped threads), but the cameras...Negative experiences:1. I have already rented 2 damaged cameras this year. (one had dead screen controls, locking them all at max and making that camera unusable), they seem especially fragile.2. The body caps are NOT snug at all. They just fall off in the case, and the rental places never tape them. All 3 of the cameras on my last show had dirty sensor glass. (I don't have time to clean these)3. Lenses... Panasonic makes 2 LITTLE servo zoom lenses ( PZ 14-42 f3.5/5.6 and the 45-175 f4/5.6.) They are okay, but not professional by any means, and your client/operators/studio WILL question them. Not flattering, and embarrassing. This alone can lose you a client. The wide one is especially bad. I wish there was an output to control bigger servo zooms using the USB controllers.4. Zoom remote speeds are lacking, too slow at the top end for live production use.5. When using these with the ATEM I get a few vertical lines on the left side of the screen of what seems to be lines from the opposite side. This is not happening with my other cameras.... I can't use them especially because of this.6. Screens do not tilt, making them tough for operators.7. I haven't found an internal zoom/crop setting. I love this about my Panasonic cameras, because if I have a big room I can easily double or even quadruple my lens length.8. The reporting of camera settings over HDMI is inconsistent. I can't see the actual shutter speed, and things just don't update as they should in the control software.9. Internal SD card recording at lower h.264 speeds would be really good. I can't tell you how many times I've had to go to the card backup for an edit. For events and ENG this does NOT need to be ProRes, it needs to be edited and uploaded ASAP. Having to gaff tape a usb drive to the camera is also really clumsy and embarassing. Conclusion:The image and control I get out of these cameras is fantastic. Coupled with the affordability of the whole system, it's... too good to be true.If these cameras were $500-$1000 more, they would still be a good deal for what they offer, and some of that price increase could be put into making a less fragile, and more robust system. It's with a sad heart that I have to abandon this system for paying gigs. It's such an appropriate concept, but in practice they don't give the confidence I need to use them. The addition of ethernet (is this compatible with NDI? Please do) promises that this could be a great solution for AV, event livestreams, and product demos, but it's just not robust enough for live, paid gigs.I have had similar issues with the ATEM mini Pro ISO Extreme. Occasional overheating and lockups (not happening since the last update), buttons WAY TOO SOFT (gently breathing on the FTB will kill your show, PLEASE move it to a safer location AWAY from the most used buttons).I realize that these products seem aimed at hobbyists, but they are also advertised as professional; that means clients who expect success for their money, and BIG (possibly legal) problems when things go wrong. My dream rig is something like a Roland VR-50mkii (because we need good audio mixing, AUX sends, and real switches), but with the ATEM's ISO recording, palettes, dual USB, software control, etc. (an internal video player and NDI would be a real treat). That mixed with a more rugged and useable camera system would be the KILLER setup for the livestream/hybrid event producer. This is only going to become more prevalent as streaming becomes an expected add-on to all live events. Though Black Magic is paving the way, I have to continue my search for a rugged, well-integrated, and compact system.
