It's Great!
OK I admit it, I still have floppys that I use from time to time, AND several zip 250 discs that I use even more often. I do not agree with the manufactures that force many of us into new technologies that do not make our work any more efficient. That said when I built my newest computer I wanted to include a zip disk in my configuration. I was pleased when looking for a zip to install I found it at Amazon.com. My usual supplier of computer parts no longer had them! Again forcing me to think that they were no longer available. Thanks Amazon. As far a zip disc is concerned, it is very easy to install and 'hums' right along without any problem. If you are like me and still see value in 'older' technologies ha, I would certainly would recommend this unit.

Despite the picture it was a Black Bezel
Installed it in an IDE to USB enclosure and plugged it into an XP and Win7 system. Performed flawlessly as a removable device even eject worked without a special driver. Quite a feat for technology almost 20 years old. And remarkable considering most motherboards today don't have IDE connectors anymore.

Fastest type of zip drive there is!
Well, the SCSI zip drive is just as fast as the internal one, but I don't have any SCSI ports, and why spend the extra money for a card, so I can use a more expensive zip drive that sits on my desk. Portability is not necessary to me because most all my friends and co-workers have zip drives too. I did have a USB Zip 250 before, but I never took it anywhere so I sold it to my friend for cheap and got the internal 250. The speed is gerat - more than twice as fast!If portability is an issue, get a USB drive. If you don't have USB ports, you'd better have SCSI ports, or lots of time to waste. The parallel port version is just too slow. They take over an hour to copy off a full 250MB Zip disk! But in going beyond comparison of apples and oranges... Zip drives really are great, I would recommend one to anyone. They're fast (except for the parallel one, ugh) the 100/250MB per disk is great. Not to big, and most importantly - not too small. They're one of, if not the most reliable magnetic removable media I've seen. Out of all the disks I've had, more than I can count, I can only remember 1 going bad.
