It took a couple minutes. Connecting it to my Alexa screens was a little bit problematic, but the issue was it must be registered to the same email address as the Alexa account owner. Once that was done it worked great. Quality of the image is fab and the audio isn't bad either. The app is easy to use and has several good features. I am still trying to figure out some but it easily does the job. Battery life is good, but you have to really amend the sensitivity. Mine is very near footpath and was going off all the time. In the first day it went down 20%, also because I was playing with it some much. However, after adjusting it has lasted a month and still has 18% left. A slightly annoying this is it does start to capture a little late. 2 seconds earlier would be better, but no matter what I do it just seems to activate too late. But don't let this put you off because it is still good, and offers added security to your house. I was able to check our cat sitter arriving and leaving while we were on holiday.
