Great toddler bed
We've had this for a year and it's holding up very well. The bed is very low which is a good thing, especially if your child tosses and turns a lot. I love the fact that he can climb up and just get out of bed by himself with no trouble at all. He was still sleeping in his pack and play (we never got him a crib) but the bed was set up for him to be exposed to it. For 1 week, we played quiet games and read a lot of books on his new bed so he can associate good feelings and memories before letting him sleep there. It was really fun for my boy to climb up the bench into the bed but I thought he might hurt himself if he got off-balanced, so we filled the entire bench with books. Now, when I check in on him in the morning, I find him with a book in bed.The transition was wonderful and he never had any trouble sleeping on it. He's very happy to have his own bed like a big boy. We're glad we chose this bed for our toddler.

looks really nice... but be ready to have your kid with bruises
so his bed looks really nice, comes in a nice package, is easy to assemble, and takes up little space. My kid didn't want to sleep in it at first, but she liked playing in it, and eventually (3 months later) I put my foot down and told her she had to sleep in it. Now she loves it. The bed has sharp wood-like edges and my kid has 2 bruises from it. I don't have proof they came from the bed but it's higly suspect that she didn't have them b/f sleeping in it. So it's a trade-off.

I love it, but make sure to pad the edges
My 3 year old has been using this bed for over a year now and both of us really love it. It's low to the ground, withstood a jumpy toddler and has a really clean, low-profile look. Like other reviewers said the picture doesn't do it justice.Size-wise it's a toddler bed so not much room for mom/dad to lie down and read stories; but, we've been able to sit/squeeze next to him on nights when he's had bad dreams and the bed has held up great. I honestly can't say the same about many other flimsy toddler beds. In fact after checking out the ones at the big stores I promptly came back to Amazon and got this one -- it seems worlds better. The bed was easy to assemble. It's been awhile so I can't remember if any tools were needed but I can tell you that I am the most un-handy person I know and I was able to set it up myself.Sounds great, but here is the big BUT (and the reason I took out a star):If you have a toddler who tosses and turns and wiggles a lot at night then make sure you pad the sides. In fact pad everything: the headboard, sides and footboard. After using it that first night I woke up to see my poor little guy with a bloody nose from hitting the headboard. I was so upset!! If I could have disassembled it that instant and ship it back I would have. During his sleep he would sometimes sit up then lie back down again. Since all four sides are pretty low it was easy for him to smack his head when laying back.Stupidly enough I just padded the headboard and sides for the second night and wouldn't you know it, he sat up, turned around and banged his head on the FOOTBOARD. So for a few months I padded all the sides. Now that he's used to the bed we have had it pad free and it works beautifully. I'm not sure that all toddlers sleep as roughly as mine; but I think this is a design flaw that could be addressed by raising those sides. However, since it's easily enough fixed by padding with comforters and the bed is working beautifully now I would still recommend it.It's sturdy, attractive, and my 3 year old loves sleeping in it.---UPDATE 11/25/2015: The bed has held up very well over the years and is now used by my second child. I've since discovered that an edge protector like the Prince Lionheart Table Edge Guard works pretty well to pad the edges; HOWEVER it may damage the veneer especially if you try to pull it off (as your toddler may try to do). My second child is also a much calmer sleeper and does not wrestle the bed in her sleep.

Horrible quality. Screws don't fit. Panel broke off. STAY AWAY!
The quality of the "wood" is so poor. The vertical side panel that connects to the bed broke for me. And the "wood" is actually just slices of hard paper -- it's that soft! Another problem is the screws and bolts don't fit well together. Some screw doesn't even go through the bolts at all. My fingers hurt. The quality of this furniture is worse than your average IKEA items. And I have to spend an hour trying to piece them together to return the item. Horrible. Do not buy!

parts missing and very confused replacement.
I had a lot of trouble with this bed. I received a wrong part that would not align so the girl promised me she would ship the replacement the next day. Never came. Two days later I got the wrong part in the mail. I knew there was not much time left so I drilled holes in the first part to get it together. The next day I got two more of the wrong parts. It did come together and looks nice but it was a real pain and the customer service obviously was not helpful at all

Worked for us getting our daughter out of our bed!
Bought this for my child who NEVER slept in a crib. My daughter slept with us the first whole 1.5 years of her life. It was obviously time to try to get her out of the bed. I was terrified thinking about how this could actually happen. Decided on this bed due to the railings, affordable price, and cute appearance. I put this bed together myself, and that is quite a feat for me. It was fairly simple, will say a few holes were probably not big enough for pegs, but that is to be expected with any put together item like this. Happy to say that almost a year later, she sleeps in her bed every night! Bed has held up perfectly, we put crib bumpers around the railings bc she is a rough sleeper. It's low to the ground, and the seat in front is used often. My husband has been in the bed to be funny, no creaking or breaking ha. She took to it right away, easy to get in, I think the railings made her feel comfy. Would highly recommend this bed!
