Q: Has it warped when in contact with the burner flame?

No warping after many months of use and abuse and if you take the handle out and turn it the other side, you even have an even surface regardless the pan size - totally perfect for just $8

Q: Does this work well with a taggine

Works excellent with it. If you have gas grill top you can take off handle and flip it upside down for totally flat surface. If on ceramic cooktop it will have the handle attach sticking up a quarter of an inch - but this is usually ok to just sit a little off center. we have another one with a fixed handle that is not flat on either side ultimately, I like this one better. Works great to slow heat tagine or la chamba clay, or glass flask for boiling as I use.

Q: Would this 8.25" heat diffuser work for a 12" diameter pan?

My largest pot is 10"diameter and though I have not used the diffuser with it I would say it could be done. With a 12" pan you may have to shift the pan around a bit on the diffuser, but you control the heat under the pan so that the contents only simmer. I say go ahead and try it.
