Taste Nirvana Real Premium 16.2 Ounce Cans, Coconut Water, 194.4 Fl Oz, (Pack of 12)

A little while back I was given a box of 12 whole young coconuts to enjoy. After a bit of practice I perfected the art of chopping the top open with a butcher's cleaver to insert a straw and suckle the sweet nectar contained within. As much fun as that was, whole coconuts take up too much space in the fridge and I'm always concerned that they must use some kind of chemicals on them to keep the "fresh" from their home in Thailand to my grocer's refrigerators. Without knowing really anything about the whole packaged coconut water game, I assumed very incorrectly that I could just select a container of any random brand off a store shelf and it would taste as immaculate as the perfect juice from a fresh-cracked coconut. I could not have been more wrong. I first tried Vita Coco because it seems to be the most common brand really everywhere. It was even at Costco, so I bought their handy 12-pack expecting to delight in the treat. I got the tetra-pak all nice and chilled before taking my first sip, and when I did I was furious. "How can they call this coconut water?!" I exclaimed. It tastes kind of like diluted, sour, used, soapy dish water that leaves a funky wang in your mouth and does nothing toward quenching your thirst. It seemed to make me thirsty for some plain old water. Yuck! At first I thought maybe I got a bad batch, but then I headed online for some reviews and I found I was not alone. How unfortunate. However, I also found lots of reviews of some other brands that people seemed to love. "Yay! There's still hope!" I thought to myself. The confusing part was that for every brand for which I found good reviews, there seemed to be countless other reviewers disgusted by each one. I read a review comparing Zico, O.N.E., and Vita Coco to one another, and it ranked the former two far above the latter. I went ahead and bought a bottle of each Zico and O.N.E. and determined they are swill, especially Zico, which tastes like tap water that was spit into by someone who just ate a rotten coconut. I continued reading reviews and found several stating that Amy & Brian is really great, but that some find it overly sweet. I am not a fan of sugary sweetness in my coconut water, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. The results? Meh. It's really not sweet at all, and although there is more flavor, it still doesn't taste like fresh coconut water. Yet another review stated that Nature Factor was a close second behind Amy & Brian, so I gave that a shot. It's definitely a little worse than Amy & Brian, but it is very similar and doesn't taste like a real coconut. I was just about to give up hope when one of the small ~9 oz. bottles with pulp of Taste Nirvana landed in my hands. I presumed it was going to be more funky wang sauce, but I took my first sip and whoa-ho-hoooo what have we here? A miracle in a bottle? A fresh coconut shaped like a bottle? Nay, it was really bottle coconut water that really tasted like coconut water! In fact it tastes even better than fresh coconut water because there's a subtle sort of butteriness to the flavor. I thought it had to be a fluke, but I took another sip (and about finished the bottle), and every drop went down as unbelievably delicious as the first. I immediately hopped onto Amazon and started a subscribe & save subscription. My first case of these 16 oz. tall cans sans pulp arrived today and after a quick 1 hour in the freezer, I just tried my first can. Son of a biscuit, it almost brings me to tears to tell you this, but it was possibly the best canned beverage I've ever guzzled. I tried so hard to make it last, but I almost chugged the darned thing because the deliciousness was so unstoppable. In short, if you're looking for some good coconut water and don't want to deal with cleaving real coconuts, save yourself a lot of time and heartache; don't try anything but Taste Nirvana. You won't regret it. I just wish I had someone else giving me this advice at the start of my misadventures in coco-hunting. === Update April 2013 === After commenter Anita suggested another brand, C2O , I found some at my local grocery store and gave it a shot. If you're still on the fence about which coconut water try, that's the only other brand I've enjoyed just about as much as Taste Nirvana. Depending on your personal preference, you may like that one even more than Taste Nirvana; Anita does. If you are able to, you should definitely sample the different brands one can at a time before buying a case on Amazon, but if you aren't able to, I think you won't go wrong with either of the above two brands. Enjoy! === Update May 2013 === Commenter Jamie suggested a brand called Harmless Harvest that's apparently only available at Whole Foods. If you have a Whole Foods near you that carries it, stop whatever else you're doing (don't even finish reading this) and go buy some of that coconut water. That is truly what I never thought possible: raw, fresh young coconut juice *exactly* as if drinking it directly out of a coconut. It's not heat treated nor pasteurized, and it is naturally organic which means it tastes flawless and it has a shelf life of at least a month due to a new high-pressure process in which they put thousands of pounds of pressure on each bottle to prevent the growth of flora. As you might imagine, it's quite pricey, but oh so worth it. I've seen a smaller bottle for under $3 and a larger bottle for over $5. There's just no comparing Harmless Harvest to any canned coconut water, but if you feel this stuff is too expensive, I'd recommend sticking with some canned stuff but occasionally supplementing your coconut high with a nice, slowly-sipped bottle of raw, organic, pure, untreated coconut water. I have tasted so many brands of coconut water and this is up there at the top. A three way tie between this, Zola, and C20 Pure. Don't even waste your money on the other brands unless they make a major change those other brands just pale in comparison and add all kinds of sugar. These three that I mention are all pure 100% coconut water, not from concentrate, and nothing else added the way I like it. It's hard to say which is the best because sometimes the flavor vary from can to can but this brand is one of the most consistently great tasting ones I've tried along with Zola. Other brands are more hit or miss some you get good tasting flavor some just not so good. I just wish the prices on these would be lower as I can not be buying these on my income I would go through these too fast. My family of three including me goes through a 12 pack in less than 2 days. If the price came down to $12-$15 for a 12 pack I can see myself buying a 24 pack every month otherwise I am relegated to only buying several times a year. The costs is too cost prohibitive for my household. If money isn't an issue with you I say go ahead and buy these as you won't be disappointed in the taste, freshness, and quality.I wish I can find these locally but none of the local stores carry it.

I've tried several coconut water brands ever since my trip to Tobago in 2010. Most of what I've found in the stores was just plain bad. Shopping at health food stores I've had more luck with brands like C2O and Blue Monkey, but this is by far the best stuff I've found. It's sweet tasting, so if that's not your thing than skip this one. Like all coconut water you have to drink this stuff cold, taste terrible warm. It baffles me, but the nutrition information on the can leads me to believe it's about twice as good for you as my second favorite brand. I'm not sure if I 100% believe it, maybe different measurement techniques or something; both have the same single ingredient: 100% young Thai coconut water. Who knows. It's also not cheap, fortunately there is prime shipping on this. I'd say overall it's a good deal considering how heavy this is to ship, so the price is justified in my mind. At a little over $2/can, it's about what you'd pay at a whole foods, etc. It's worth noting that the large cans in other brands are typically *slightly* larger than this one (maybe 17 ounces), but it's hardly worth noting that. Final analysis: if you like sweet coconut water I think this is really the best brand to go for.

I use Coconut water to help hydrate me before IV sticks and blood draws. It seems to help hydrate and maintain my veins longer than simply water or Gatoraide. It delivers nutrients to my blood stream that seems to balance everything much better. I used to drink a lot of water before sticks or lots of gatoraide and I would still get missed IVs. I then started reading up on Coconut water, and I drink literally 2 large cans of this the afternoon before, then I drink 2 cans of it the morning of the IVs/draws and I have not had a missed IV since - I get IVs monthly for an infusion. I am also a Pediatric RN so I have experience with IVs and have been on both sides of the poke and poker so I have no doubt this coconut water helps. I also only use Taste Nirvana Coconut water because it is clean, sweet, and not filled with odd-ball chemicals. I have tasted several other brands and each one had an off flavor that I couldn't drink long-term until I tasted this brand. It was a perfect balance. I get this delivered every couple months to stay in stock. I drink it also to hydrate for long bike rides after I got very dehydrated and sick after only drinking gatoraide and water for a long, hot bike ride. I never got dehydrated again when I switched to this coconut water. I will say, I do not suggest drinking this water for anything but specific activities. Remember it has calories in it and can cause you to gain weight like any other caloric drink. I do not drink coconut water normally - most of the time I drink ice water.

I've tried most of biggest brands in coconut water here on Amazon. Zico, Vita Coco, Naked, and O.N.E. They all tasted watered down, some tasted rancid/bitter, and others tasted artificial and just plain awful. To put it best, they all tasted stale. I was drinking Zico before this, because it was the most tolerable to me personally in terms of flavor/consistency. The flavor is comparable to sweetened corn water(?). I decided on a whim to try Taste Nirvana after finding that the S&S price was almost the same as what I was paying for Zico. There is a huge difference in flavor! Taste Nirvana is subtly sweet the way nature intended a ripe coconut to taste like. The consistency is very rich and almost creamy... I AM IN LOVE!!! The flavor really quenches my thirst, and for me personally, I tend to notice that my lips become a vibrant shade of pink as well as moisturized whenever I drink a great quality coconut water. I know it sounds weird, but maybe some girls can relate? After drinking this coconut water my lips have been full, soft, and a rosy pink color (don't need lipgloss anymore)--so I know it's working! I will never switch back to any other brand! Thanks Amazon for carrying such a wonderful product.

Product is damaged and package is intact. Amazon resales damaged products for a big profit!!!! When a can is dented near a seam or a junction, it makes it possible for air to enter the can. A sharp dent can cause a pinhole in the can, which could also allow air to enter. This air, combined with the moisture in the can, allows the growth of microorganisms. These microorganisms cannot be killed by cooking. Consumption of this food could potentially result in botulism. Cans that are bulging or have rust that will not wipe off are also deemed unsafe. DISCARD cans with dents on seams, dents where side and end meet, sharp dents, swelling or bulging, rust that does not wipe off If in doubt, throw it out. They really can be dangerous. Reason is, the tiniest break in the seal can allow botulism in, which does not ned oxygen to grow. Botulism is toxic and fatal when ingested, or at best case, you're only a quadriplegic.
