THAT WAS EASY!
Didn’t need tech support because this was the easiest out of 5 controllers I’ve installed over the years. Programming was the simplest I’ve ever done as well! I didn’t bother with the plus feature or registering and the app still works properly. This was 1/6th of the local wholesalers price for a controller with less features.

App is confusing, no simple "off" button
Having used the Wyze cameras and generally finding them to be easy to install and use, I thought I'd try the Wyze sprinkler controller. I love the concept of a smart sprinker controller that understands the local weather, soil type, plant type, and sun conditions for zones. The utopia wore off pretty quickly after installation of the controller. I discovered just how complex the app is to configure and use. It looks simple enough on the surface, but don't be fooled. You enable/disable zones from two places--in a schedule (makes sense) or within the system>zones>zone. I guess I could see this being useful from time to time--I have a broken zone and want to disable it across all schedules. Because this can be done in two places, I'm unsure of whether I have a zone on or not. Is it on in schedule, but off in zone settings or vice versa? Just have to let the schedule run and verify. I think the app designers try to give you a hint about a zone being disabled from zone settings by making it appear sort of dim in the main view of the app. But if you've disable/deselected in a schedule, you won't see this in the main view. You'll discover this mistake when you noticed a dry/wilting zone.Watering time isn't set under a zone within a schedule. It's in a separate section. You better absolutely check the default times because it defaults to very high run times of 45 minutes. Might be okay for a zone with rotors covering a large area if each rotor runs at 3 GPM or less, but that's a huge amount of water coming out of a fixed spray head zone running that long! My rotor zones must run about three times longer than my spray zones to put out a half inch of water--the recommended amount for turf in our part of the country. It would be great if the default run time information were more visible in the app. It's an expensive and wasteful mistake that's just too easy to make on first set up. My first clue was the total time for the first watering, which also includes soak time.I believe Wyze could do a better job with documentation for the app. When I realized the app was more complex than I imagined before purchase, that's what I went looking for. Kind of sad I needed documentation. The only documentation that's accessible from the app is help center, which takes you to a generic Wyze help page. I wanted help for the sprinkler controller, but now that I'm in help center, I have to search for the product I need help with. Not cool. To make matters worse, you have to tap products in the help center. That takes you to a products family list. Sprinkler controller isn't even listed! It's under Connected Home. Who knows this? Why doesn't the help center link in the app just share which part of the Wyze app you were navigating from so the help center page can automatically filter the content for the sprinkler controller? Wyze, this is not lovable at all. Please fix this! There is no easy way to simply turn off the controller indefinitely until you're ready to water again. It would be great if you could do this from the main app view where it would be visible and easily accessible. You have to drill into settings, then schedules, and tap disable schedules. Not too bad once you find it, but not discoverable. This is a pretty common need and it feels like it should be easier. Got a problem or watering season ending? Shut it all down.Lastly, I'm trying out the smart schedule, but I'm nervous. It seems to be watering much more frequently than I normally would with my old non-smart controller. We're just now hitting consistently warm season temps, so I'm going to try this for a month to see if it actually saves water/money. I'm doubtful based on the trend so far, but hope I'm wrong cause I do think this could be brilliant if implemented well.Wyze, please fix these useability issues. I really want to like this and be a raving fan.Update:A few months in and I’m happy to report the smart scheduling does help save water and money, even accounting for the smart scheduling yearly subscription. So far, my water bills have been about half of their normal amount. We’ve had a wetter and cooler summer so far. The old cork-based rain sensor never worked this well.

Simple install, works great!
I have had this 4 almost a month now. The installation and setup was simple, its great to be able to remotely control the zones from anywhere. The DC Adapter does hum, which is a little concerning and googling this I have found similar reviews of this going back to 2021. It does not seem to be heating up though so perhaps this is normal. Also as other reviewers have noted the app interface is easy to set up, but there is no on/off for a schedule once it begins running...for example if you have a schedule run and realize you want to turn it off you have to select "skip zone" through all the zones to run through the scheduled cycle. Its a minor inconvenience, but I believe they're still making improvements to the app as their was a recent update where you can now pause all schedules with a touch of one button, so they are making improvements to the app. Despite this it is still simple and a great feature over the old analog/digital timers that are not wifi controlled.
