Q: Are these bundled with a cardboard?

No there was no cardboard that I can remember . I put my pampered chef catalog in them and it worked great . I hung them on my neighbors doors

Q: Looking for bags to use for curbside library book service. Would these hold 2 regular sized hardcover books?

It's been several years since I ordered these. They were high quality bags--I was quite surprised. I was expecting something flimsy, but they weren't by any means. If your budget allows, I'd buy a bundle and try it--they may just work for you.

Q: Will an 8 1/2 x 11 flier fit in the bag below the door knob hole?

It is exactly 11" from the bottom door knob hole to the bottom of the bag. It might be tight, but should be ok if the flier is not bigger than 11".

Q: Will they hold up to a pound of items

I believe it will. I did a quick test using a box of pasta (16 oz), and the bag held up.
