my cat has been batteling a uti for a month 3 rounds of antibiotics later using her litterbox instead of floor. After several failed cleaning attempts with carpet cleaner, black light (no urine detected)different enzymatic cleaners, simple solution extreme cat is the winner!!! If you follow the dire tions, completely saturate the area and let it stay wet(to keep biospores active to eat the mess) for 4-6hrs(more depending on how bad), no more smell, no return visits to remark! amazing product!!!!

I've been using enzyme/bacteria-based cleaners for urine for a few years, but this has become my new favorite. It works faster than other brands I've used (Nature's Miracle and Just Rite) plus it has a much more pleasant smell while it is working. The bacteria/enzyme-based cleaners work so well because the bacteria break down the urine. The problem is that while that is happening, the smell can get worse (especially with Nature's Miracle). Simple Solution, on the other hand, is highly scented so that it covers up the smell while the bacteria are breaking it down. The scent is not great (think of a heavy-duty air freshener) but miles better than urine odor! The scent does dissipate so that the rug is left smelling pretty neutral once the process is complete. The bottle has an adjustable spray so you can use a narrow stream (for soaking deep into the carpet) or a wide spray (for covering larger areas). The key to getting this to work is to fully-saturate the urine area. Simple Solution has several variations of this product. I tried the regular strength, and the "extreme" version (this product) is worth the extra cost since it does work faster and you end up using less. They also make a dog-specific version of the Extreme. I don't know what the difference is between the cat and the dog versions (probably just marketing), and Simple Solution did not respond to my email asking for more info. Wish it was less expensive, but it certainly does the job, and does it well. Highly recommend.

UPDATE-Yesterday I used my carpet cleaner on my entire carpet, and after it dried the stain came back. I guess this spray temporarily masks it? Idk maybe it's just for stains if you catch them quick. Mine was a tough stain. I have been trying so many products, but this has been the only thing that has worked. I had a couple issues. 1- I was fostering a dog that was not house trained. He had a few accidents on my carpet, and I unfortunately was not able to get the stain out. I tried using a carpet cleaner numerous times, as well as many different products. It didn't work. I thought I was going to have to rip my carpet up and buy a new one. I stumbled upon this product, and gave it a go. I sprayed a lot on the areas and within 10 hours the stain lightened tremendously. I am now giving it another round, and I really think it's going to lighten it to a point where it will no longer be noticable. 2- my cats litterbox is in the basement, and I believe he had a few instances where he peed on the floor in some areas, because my basement started to smell. That carpet is dark, so it was hard to tell where he did it. I sprayed the entire carpet and let it sit. Within a few hours, the smell was gone. I highly highly highly recommend this product. I wish I could give more stars!!!

I have 7 cats and 1 of the new girls went into heat before I could get her fixed and she decided to start spraying -_-. Needless to say I was NOT happy. I HATE the smell of cat pee and I HATE a house that smells like it. I used this product forever ago when petsmart had it in stock and completely forgot about it until I seen it on amazon. This is the best product so far that works with cat pee. Sometimes I've used it and I never smell the cat pee again, other times, I have to repeatedly apply it ( I think it depends on how much pee and how far down it got). I now have one girl who's been struggling with a UTI and I've been really going through this stuff but the other products I've used make everything smell 10x worse! I'm trying another new one because it's just really bad in the one room but again, so far this has really been my go-to cat pee smell destroyer. Also, when using a black light and spraying this on pee, you can see the pee disappear. I'll have to mark a spot and check it a few days later to see if it does come back but def works and the fragrance that is left behind is light and not over powering in my opinion.

Firstly, let me say that this product seems to work. It leaked significantly in transit, and I used a cat-stained pillowcase to wipe off the bottle and the packaging before returning it. The good news is that the pillowcase no longer smells of cat pee. The bad news is that it now reeks of the product's synthetic fragrance, which turns out to be a migraine trigger for me. I've put that pillowcase through the washing machine three times now with various odour eliminators, and the scent is still there. So while Simple Solution's spray seems to have done the job (the scent isn't masking the cat odour, as far as I can tell), the pillowcase is still unusable due to the persistent and pungent perfumes in the product. [EDIT: So, after six months of washing the pillowcase whenever I had space in a load, it's finally free of the product fragrance. It turns out, though, that a slight cat odour persisted underneath the spray's scent, and remains on the pillowcase. That could well be because the fabric wasn't completely saturated by the product when I cleaned up the leak, however. So I continue to believe that Simple Solution's spray works pretty well, even though it was definitely not for me. - March 2013] Unfortunately I was sitting on my couch when I opened the box, and some of the product leaked onto that, resulting in the same problem - multiple vinegar rinses and a wet-dry vac later, I can sit on that end of the couch for short periods without my head starting to pound. But that's a lot of work for a small leak! So while this product appears to shift odours, it's a risky proposition for anyone with chemical sensitivities, migraines, or other intolerances. Finally, as I said in the first line, the product leaked when Amazon sent it to me. The first time they sent it out, this spray was packaged up with an order of books (despite their claiming those would ship separately); unsurprisingly, the books were water-damaged and reeked of this stuff! I sent the whole lot back since the spray bottle seemed to have lost a fair amount, and they sent me a replacement bottle - which also leaked! I've left packaging feedback so hopefully this will improve for future orders, but fair warning - you probably don't want to order this in the same order as food items, books or anything else you don't want it leaking on.

We recently moved to a new home and brought with us a beautiful 8K rug that was given to us for free by a family friend. She didn't want it and I was happy to take it off her hands. It came from restoration hardware. It's a cream colored area rug that in just a few months developed a walkway stain. So when we moved, a friend offered to loan us her carpet steam machine. I used it on the area rug and let the rug dry a few days prior to moving in. The day we moved in, I opened the door and all I could smell was cat pee. I then realIzed it was coming from the area rug and then I remembered that the friend I borrowed the steam cleaner from also has cats and must have used it on her carpets that had cat uriine. So it was still in the machine when I borrowed it. Even though I had completely put a new and fresh cleaning agent in the machine. I tried everything from another 5-6 cleanings, vinegar and of course the most popular cat urine remover on the market. Nothing could get out the smell and I can't stand the smell of cat pee. Here we were moving into this beautiful new home and all I could smell was cat pee. I finally went to YouTube to see what else was available and watched a video review of this product. So I ordered it as one last hope before I sadly trashed the donated $8,000 area rug. To my shock. IT WORKED!! I had to spray the top and underside a few times and it still took a few days but the smell is completely gone. My guess is that the cat pee got into fibers of the carpet since the machine was so powerful. I highly recommend this product. I don't know what's different with this one vs the leading brand but this one definitely saved my beautiful area rug.

This product is awesome. My 18 year old cat is suffering from some senior problems. One day, I discovered that she had a new problem, a leaky bladder while sleeping. Thankfully, she no longer has the problem. However, due to her leaky bladder my armchair had an area that stank of cat urine and it had seeped into the chair material.. I tried two different products designed for cat messes which I bought locally. At first they seemed to work, but soon the odor returned. I believe that they just covered the smell with a fragrance and didn’t get to the cause of the smell. I tried a home recipe, but that didn’t work either. I needed to “destroy” the odor producing chemicals. I went on-line, did my research and figured that I needed a biological treatment that would break down the odor causing chemical. As a result, I ordered the Simple Solution Cat Extreme stain and ordor remover. As soon as it arrived, I used it. Next day, I noticed that there was much less odor. I treated the armchair a second time. The odor was completely gone and has never returned. I now use this product for occasional cat accidents. It works great. In fact, I recommended it to friends who have indoor cats. I advise that anyone with an indoor cat keep a bottle of this product handy, in case of emergency.

Completely removed the smell from my mattress. My daughter has a cat that pees on beds multiple times for a a day or two when he’s throwing a tantrum. In addition to buying a waterproof mattress cover I decided to try this. I did 2-3 rounds of this on the mattress and the smell is COMPLETELY gone. Only problem was the foam function on my bottle didn’t work. But this product is now my go to.

Good product, does take a few applications to remove smell, so suggest 2 bottles if a big area, particularly if carpet or fabric

So last year during renovations a 'designer' talked my Dad into wall to wall cream shag carpets. We have two cats, one who is quite elderly and prone to hairballs and having accidents (including, occasionally, the runny brown kind). I've been using this stuff with the help of a Bissel brand Little Green Machine (portable carpet cleaner, bought at costco, highly recommend for pet stains!) for the past few months. I have pulled some horrific stains out of those ridiculous cream carpets, even managed to get up a few set in stains that Nature's miracle brand carpet cleaner left behind. I can't say whether or not this stuff prevents re-marking in cats with that problem, but it works on stains. It it absolutely KEY that you blot, DO NOT SCRUB, when using this product. Scoop up any 'debris', saturate the stain, blot with a paper towel, saturate stain again, let sit to allow product to work, blot again with something absorbent. At that point I use my carpet spot cleaner to get the product out of the carpet, and tada, no more stain. And I find the vanilla smell of this product much more pleasant than other strong floral scents, but that's personal preference I suppose.
