OtterBox Pixel 5a Commuter Series Case - Black

I grabbed this case while it was on sale for ~$20. That is a great value for this quality case. It's formfitting and sleek on the phone, so it doesn't add bulk to it or make it unmanageable to hold like some other cases do. It has a nice matte finish, so it doesn't look cheap and blends in nicely. I also really like the slope under the cutout for the fingerprint reader. It makes it easier to access the fingerprint reader than other cases and looks rather stylish. The other great feature is that there are two dust flaps that cover the charging port and the headphone jack when not in use. They are easy to open/close with the edge of a fingernail and help protect the device. This is by far the best case I've seen for this phone.

It will hold your (terrible choice in) phone's screen in place for a much longer time than without it. If you cheaped out on the regular pixel like I did and you have the phone thats screen is seemingly held on by Elmer's glue, you'll appreciate this case. My phone screen did manage to crack at the top but that's because I dropped it 3 ft. A small crack is better than the phone screen just coming off of the device for no reason (I genuinely mean no reason before this case I treated it like a newborn) making the phone unusable so if you don't get this case, get one just like it that will grip around the front of the screen slightly. And next time you're eligible get a better phone than the A series :)

I've had this on my Pixel 5a for about five months now along with the Supershieldz glass screen protector. It's been a great balance between protection and bulkiness. It's survived a few drops from about pocket-level height and no damage seen so far. The rubbery gripping areas on the sides/corners make the phone a little annoying to slip in and out of my pocket, but I'm sure it's part of the reason the phone doesn't shatter when hitting the ground. I added a pop-out stand and now it's a little too bulky. The flaps that cover the charger and headphone jack have been great, keeping them extremely clean. The speaker holes on the bottom collect a lot of lint and dust. I blow those out with a can of air at least monthly. When removing the case, there's minimal dirt and dust that has gotten between the phone and the case. Most of it is around the camera glass and the top of the phone, and even then it's minimal. There is quite a bit of dust between the soft portion of the case and the hard portion, however. And there isn't nearly as much dust between the Supershieldz protector and the case as I thought there would be. It's my first Otterbox ever and I'd absolutely buy another for my next phone.

A solid and durable case, I dropped my phone twice, first time was from about 8ft from a dresser and again from a moving car. Both times they protected my phone from disaster. I recently bought another one because after 3 years the plastic around the case itself disintegrated from use. Well worth the money and very easy to install. It's one of the few cases that has a spot for the fingerprint reader that is unique to the Pizel 5.

This is possibly the best case I ever had. I like the soft rubber on the sides, well protected. My phone bounced out of the window of a Volvo 110 wheel loader and I didn't find it right away. Found it laying screen down in the dirt with a tire track across it. The window is in the center of the machine so it was only one tire that got it and the only thing cracked was the glass screen protector! And that's easily replaced. Perfect conditions though, a rock under the screen and I'm not sure it would have survived. I'm buying another one for my wife's Pixel 5A 5G. A Volvo 110 wheel loader weighs around 40,000 lbs, just saying...

Great case, can't go wrong with OtterBox. Strong, sturdy without being oversized or cumbersome. Slips in and out of pocket easily and lasted for the entire time I had the phone!

First off, I've been using a wallet style for several years, but decided to try this style. That said, this is a nice case. It feels good in the hand, is grippy and the buttons are tactile. There are covers for the charging port and headphone jack. The phone fits perfectly and the dust caps are a nice feature. As nice as this case is, I'll probably go back to a wallet style folding case, just my preference. EDIT: I've been using this case more than I thought I would and I really like it, putting the wallet case away for now. If there is any con to this case, it is because it's expensive compared to others. On a side note: While waiting for the Otterbox, I tried the Spigen Tough Armor. While this is not a review of the Spigen, of the two, I preferred the Otterbox.

Fantastic proce perfect case

Dropped phone from waist height on to a wood floor and the screen broke. Very disappointed in the protection, expected better. I replaced my screen and within 2 months the same happened again and i have 2nd broken screen. Not very good for screen protection. For reference I had a glass screen protector installed on both occasions and this did not help. I recommend using a Spigen Tough Armor cases instead, I have on on a old LG G6 that I use a a backup phone now and it has protected it since 2017 still going strong.

Fits the phone perfectly, but when putting on the hard cover it can be a pain to make sure the rubber isn't pinched at the top of bottom of the phone. Takes a few tries to get right.

Failed after a few months and the lifetime warranty is worthless. Disappointed.
