Best Knife for the Money (IMO)
I’ve owned at least 4 of these knives throughout my maritime career, and will continue buying them long after I’m off the water. They are sharp right out of the box, look amazing (I’ve owned 2 of the wooden handles and 2 of the bone), and I think I’ve only had to adjust the tightness a couple of times after hundreds of openings and closings. Myerchins maritime history does hold up to the product, and I can’t recommend these knives enough.

it's OK...
I got this a few moths ago. If this knife was tested at sea then why does the company include a leather(?!? lanyard? Nor would I carry anything (except maybe a bosuns whistle) around my neck on a boat. It is a lot smaller than I realized. I went for the smooth blade since under the right circumstances it can offer a cleaner cut than a serrated. Personally I would not opt to use this on a boat as a working knife. the blade is too thin for cordage I encounter on a boat. I would perhaps carry it as a lubber edc. As for cutting line, I was brought up up that one does not necessarily cut line, one chops line on a block so as not to fray the end (you can use some models of anvil pruning shears as well to the same effect). I do not believe the blade (or the knife) of this model would stand up for long to that kind of punishment, so I went to a fixed blade sheep-foot rigger and made a canvas sheath to accommodate the blade and what they call a marlin spike. Myerchin makes a decent model in that regard so do a few others. On a more positive note, I admit this feels good to handle and is serviceable all the blades open and close smoothly; I can open the main cutting blade with one hand (it is not a flicker i's a thumber), which is important if you're handling line in less than optimal circumstances. Its size works well with most sizes of paracord. I am on the whole satisfied with my purchase. I recommend the smooth blade over the serrated, that is just my preference. There are a lot of rigger's knives on Amazon.

Perfect
Not too big not too small. This is my second knife I lost the first one and cried until I received my second one.
