Works pretty good
Honestly, this bug zapper is a bit of a mixed bag, which seems to be the story for most of these types of units. When it works, it works great. You hang it up (be ready with an extension cord, because the included one is usually pretty short), plug it in, and you'll definitely hear the satisfying "zap!" sound as moths and flies get taken out. I've found it makes a huge difference on my patio, especially with smaller, flying gnats and no-see-ums in the evening, making it much more bearable to sit outside. It’s also completely chemical-free, which is a major plus. The big catch is that it's not a silver bullet for everything. It's generally not very effective against mosquitoes, which are attracted more by CO2 than the UV light, so you'll still need repellent for those. Also, cleaning the thing is a pain—dead bug parts get stuck in the grid, and the bottom tray can be finicky to empty cleanly. The bulb will eventually burn out, and finding the specific replacements can be tricky.

Works Very Well
We live on a lake shore and mosquitoes and bugs are a seasonal problem. We hang it from the patio ceiling between us sitting and the lake. The little sound of zapping is frequent and satisfying. It works. We use two. One at each corner of the patio ceiling between us and the lake. We leave the bottom door hanging open so dead bugs that are not stuck to the electrical grid just fall into the lawn.

UPDATED REVIEW....
Ive had zappers... then i had THIS zapper.... if you gots bugs, this will make sure you dont for long, Very impressed, thankyou. ............... EDITED BY BUYER : OK, so im redoing my review, INITIALLY gave it 5 stars, then because after it stopped working after 5 weeks, and trying.. for three days to get in touch with the seller.. NO JOY... amazon advised we just send it back, we did, and i redacted my initial five star review down to two... HOWEVER.... the seller must have seen my redaction, reached out.. and sent me a brand new one which arrived double quick. WHY ONLY FOUR STARS THEN ? Simple.. REMOVING any way to contact the seller when there is an issue, is just silly.. if id have been able to have resolved this without resorting to redaction, searching for a way to contact them, and then having to go through amazon... and only then they reach out to me.. id have kept the initial 5 star review.. because this zapper IS amazing.. what sucks is not being able to contact the seller. I will say, they acted quickly when i did get in touch with them, so thankyou for that.

11/10 Recommend
I bought two and have had them for over a year now. Initially, I bought them for indoor use—one upstairs and one downstairs. It felt like magic how they attracted and wiped out the pesky mosquitos I was dealing with. The zap is loud but so incredibly satisfying. Well I recently moved and I’m dealing with mosquitos again this summer. I tried one outside, briefly, and it was busy zapping away. I plugged the other one indoors and it continues to do a great job of attracting and killing what I assume to be mosquitos. I’m sick of the bites and I’m putting my full faith in these bug zappers to carry me through summer, just like they did last summer. I can honestly say these were a completely necessary and worthwhile purchase.

Works great indoors to kill flies and termites.
These things are great for killing flies that are almost impossible to kill indoors. Just make sure you put a pan of water under where you hang this to kill the termites that just got the wings burned off that are still alive. Also buy a pack of replacement bulbs since they will burn out probably twice a year.

Kills Florida mosquitoes FAST.
This is my new lantern which I have carried around the house since I got it yesterday. It's rainy season in Florida so mosquitoes are everywhere. Within 24 hours of having this, all the mosquitoes inside are gone. I was able to work on my patio without getting eaten alive. I also didn't realize how satisfying it would be to hear that zap of a bug dying. I love that it has a study protective cage and a build in handle. It's easy to clean and I appreciate the included brush for those stubborn bugs that refuse to fall to the bottom. Highly recommend!

Good bug zapper for a few months
We had a fly problem in our home and was looking for a solution. We decided to go with this bug zapper. Really there wasn’t a bug zapper out there that had amazing reviews. The zapper did the job and got rid of all the flies. I was so relieved. While I didn’t have that many flying bugs after the fly problem, we still wanted to keep it on. The reason for the 3 stars is the bug zapper stopped working after having it for about 3-4 months. If you plan to purchase, please be mindful this will not last.
