excellent pump, incredibly affordable but exactly as advertised
excellent quiet pump, same interface as my last variable speed pump at less than 1/3 the cost. Similar cost to standard pumps, but variable makes much more efficient. Can really consume less electricity. Much less, up to ten times less depending on how it is run. Runs pool hot tub and hayward navigator without issue. The electrical connection is unusual compared to all other pumps I've encountered. Some adjustment to electrical conduit was needed. The actual electrical wire connections were the same as all other motors I have installed. More information on that in the description would be helpful to prepare for installation. Also, it was nice to know that the connection for piping was 1 and 1/2 inch female threaded ( I read in a review). Though it has a larger male threaded option I am unfamiliar with. The 1 1/2 inch female threaded worked fine. I have 2 inch pipes for hole system and all components work fine after the reduction. Also, I had a 3 hp variable speed before. The 1.5 is more that sufficient to handle all my equipment and every thing works as before. 20000 gal pool with inline hot tub and heater. Do not need more than 1.5 HP

Received a defective non working unit. Called the manufacturer ...
Edit 1.. Received 2nd unit on Saturday. Pumped primed easily and it's working great. Changed to 4 stars. The screen shows you how many watts are being used. It's great to know exactly how much pump is costing me to run.Tip for programming. Make sure pump is stopped so unit can save settings.Received a defective non working unit. Called the manufacturer on a Tuesday and was told they will ship another one next day and will get it Friday. Friday came and no replacement yet and pool is turning green. Will update once it finally arrives and pump is installed.Just pissed off I have to pay pool guy more $$ to come out again and install the 2nd unit as he did his job installing unit.

Buyer Beware! Difficulty contacting customer service and unclear warranty
Buyer Beware!!! This pump was purchased 10/29/2017 and installed around 7 months ago, and already pump has condensation in the LCD screen rendering it impossible to program. It currently will not accept a program, not even quick clean even when pressing the buttons rendering the pump useless. The pump did not even make it one season.I emailed through Amazon to inquire about warranty and received response to call a NY phone number that was to Island Recreational. After spending 20 minutes on hold for Customer Service, i was immediately transferred to someone's voicemail. 24 hours later with no return call, I called again and was told to email Amazon order invoice to a company called Pool Parts To Go.

it is occasionally falling to error "low voltage" what makes my pool green because there is nobody to permanently care about pump running. After reset and start buton pressing the pump runs another couple days or week and then again. I was repeatedly asking seller to send serviceman, he did not responded.

Very little head (pressure) and low efficiency at low speeds. Plumb for 1.5 inch pipe
This definitely has a variable-speed motor and motor controller, but the pump itself has very little head (pressure) until you get to 500 watts. Below that, it could not lift water the 3 or 4 feet necessary to purge air out of my sand filter. Below 500 watts I see water moving through my chlorinator, slowly, even though there's so little head. Other variable speed motors I've owned have had enough head to purge the air from the filter at their lowest speed and were able to lift water up to the solar heat panels on my roof.At 3100 to 3450 RPM it is a powerful pump and runs efficiently, but that's when it's using over 1 kilowatt. It doesn't look as if this is worth using at powers under 500 watts. So, it looks to me as if the pump is designed for fixed speed, rather than variable speed.1.5 horsepower is kind of large for the 1.5 inch inside-diameter pipe fittings on this pump. It should have 2 inch. The seller should specify on Amazon that it's plumbed for 1.5 inch pipe. The pump is manufactured by Ningbo Splash Pool Appliance Co Ltd. You can find them on the web and they provide an English support email. The motor is much lighter than others of equivalent horsepower, it's a permanent magnet motor while others are not. Supposedly this will save energy. You will need to find 1.5 inch outside-threaded to slip adapter. There are also outside threads on the same fitting, too fine for a PVC union so I don't know what would fit them.

Blue Torent 1.5 variable speed inground pool pump
Im giving this 5 stars only because the cost was great and it save electric cost 50% 5amps on high, it has 4 pre set speeds that can be adjusted infinitely, it has its own time schedule as well in control panel/variable speed etc.One issue I noticed was it rained "I live in Florida" and the screen appeared to get moister, the control panel IS NOT WATER TIGHT, so I made a cover for the control panel cover! If this pump was in a pump house or in some sort of cover to keep dry I think its worth it so far.1 year warranty not badGood constructionSilent on setting #1,2quiet on setting #3#4 is quiet and tolerable , considering my other 9.5 amp pump sound like a train and would really bother your ears and on high I don't find this loudGood luck
