This roller made pretty Christmas cookies
After reading the reviews, I hesitated to purchase the XINBADA Embossed Rolling Pin, but I'm pleased with the quality of the rolling pin and the cookies I could make for my family's Christmas. The quality of the rolling pin is fantastic. The baker needs to treat the cutout areas with respect and care, but that is the same for any embossed brand of pin. The wood is rugged yet soft enough not to be brittle. The use of the rolling pin is simple, and, as expected, the dough needs to be well-floured or powder-sugared to avoid sticking. The dough recipe must not have leavening agents - like a butter cookie shortbread; if the cookie rises you will lose the cutout print. The learning process to get a good imprint takes some time and practice, but once you know how hard you have to press, the process goes quickly, and the print comes out perfectly. I purchased scalloped square cutters to cut around the imprints, but using a knife or another type of cutter would do. Cleaning, I learned that when the dough is properly "floured" it doesn't attach itself to the imprints, but you will have some get into the grooved areas. I found the best way to clean it is to let it dry and take a hard brush/toothbrush and brush it clean. I'm happy that I bought this rolling pin and will be looking for others that represent other holidays.

PERFECT!!! I love these.
Our church was hosting a Festival of Nativities and I wanted cookie designs with the nativity on them. These were PERFECT!!! People were taking pictures of them. Tips: VERY IMPORTANT!!! Choose a cookie recipe that doesnโt rise. I searched specifically for cookies recipes to used for rolled cookies and found a great shortbread cookie recipe. It was super easy, inexpensive, and tasty. Everyone loved them. If you use a recipe that rises you will lose your design. Next: make sure your cookie dough is floured well before rolling. Roll the cylinder with your hand instead of the handle. Make sure your dough is consistently thick. I used the spacers on my rolling pin. I then used a wavy rotary cutter to separate the cookies before baking. Check your rolling pin after each batch is rolled to ensure no dough or excess flour is hung in the small grooves. One of my favorite purchases!!! Everyone else loved the results as much as I did. This will definitely be part of my family Christmas tradition.

Nice deep etching!
Make sure you season before using. I rubbed with coconut oil and let sit overnight to soak in. I also have a โ proofโ setting on my oven, so placed it in that super low setting for an hour to let the oils soak in. Donโt put in regular oven tho, the plastic rolling gaskets might meltโฆ I had no problem rolling out sweet cookies with Merry Christmas plainly embossed on each one! Pin comes with a little tool to dust out any remaining flour, powdered sugar or dough.

Not as I had hoped.
This rolling pin did not work as I had hoped. The dough stuck in the design. This may be due to operator error, as I have not used a rolling pin with carved designs before. But it is pretty & I'll hang it in my kitchen.

Springerle rolling pin
Thought I was getting a different one(scene) but like the production. Going to use it today.

Didnt work for holiday cookies
This really sucked. The designs are not carved in enough to leave the details on the dough. I had to press down really hard basically flattening out the cookie dough.

Does not work!
The patterns in the rolling pin are cut very shallow and image is not clear on cookies after baking. Disappointed with product, waste of money.

I used with Sculpey clay
This is the first time using something like this. It made very nice ornaments. I didnโt quite know how hard to press but after a few tries I ended up with nice gifts for the tree. Iโm sure cookies would do well too.

False advertising. Not the same as the picture.
The rolling pin in the picture is not what I received. Here are the dimensions I received. The length is 13 1/2" long, the diameter is 1 3/4", the depth of embossing is .05 mm and the embossing section altogether is 5 3/4". Look at the difference in the real size it should have compared to a normal size rolling pin. This is the third time I have tried getting a nativity scene from different companies. I have not been successful yet. Very disappointed. I wished people say what they mean and mean what they say. Integrity anyone?
