When it comes to portable dvd players, I think choosing a company with great customer service is doubly important since any number of things can go wrong. In the case of me, the eject button would not work unless I used a flat head screwdriver to lift it while pushing the eject button simultaneously. DB Power send me new unit which works perfectly with great picture quality, and I didn’t have to return the old one. Even with dual speakers, the sound quality is ok not great. At my age, reading subtitles is more difficult than it used to be, so I use the unit to watch foreign films in bed, and put the unit in my lap.

I originally bought this DVD player a few years ago as a gift for my grandfather who has since passed away. When I recently got it back (from my uncle) as a keepsake to remember him by, I was disappointed to learn that the battery would not hold a charge. So, I contacted support, and they answered all my questions. But unfortunately, the DVD player was out of warranty. Instead of abandoning me in my grief, they refunded the money I'd spent on a companion DVD player (same make/model) I'd bought to go with my grandfather's. So, in effect, the new one became a replacement for the out-of-warranty one I'd purchased for him years ago. And what could've been a disappointing and frustrating experience turned into a happy memory that I'm sure would've made my grandfather smile. I will keep the one my grandfather used despite the battery issue because it was his. And I'll use the new one, which looks exactly like his, as a reminder of him and the entertainment he used to enjoy. Thank you DBPOWER for providing amazing Customer Service! So far, the replacement DVD player has fantastic battery life, a beautiful picture despite its size and technology (TFT) and the speakers that are loud enough to hear in a variety of situations. One suggestion, as noted to the DBPOWER team, would be to allow users to use the player while it's plugged in without having to see the "Low Battery" message flashing every second on the screen. This one change, in my opinion, would extend the usability of the DVD player beyond when its battery can no longer hold a charge. Aside from that one suggestion, everything has been great -- especially for the price! I bought the companion DVD player on sale and it was totally worth it. NOTE: I intend to follow their detailed instructions about battery maintenance to hopefully extend the life of the replacement unit. That includes charging once per month and unplugging it immediately when it's fully charged. My understanding is that it's a lithium polymer battery and requires a little more maintenance than the lithium-ion batteries we see most often. If you're not aware, it may throw you off. Enjoy!

Alright, let’s cut to the chase: I bought this DBPOWER 12” Portable DVD Player for a little trip down Nostalgia Lane, and let me tell you, this baby delivered. Forget your fancy streaming services and Wi-Fi woes—this is entertainment as nature intended: on shiny spinning discs that feel like magic relics from a simpler time. First off, it’s got a 12-inch screen. Is that massive? No. Is it perfectly sized to make you feel like you’re running your own 2003 blockbuster night in the back of your minivan? Absolutely. The screen swivels, by the way, so if you’re feeling fancy, you can tilt it like you're reviewing classified files on the go. The battery lasts five hours. That’s two whole movies if you skip the credits (you monster). I took it camping to escape all those tech-addicted people (ironically), and while they were swiping through TikTok, I was blissfully enjoying the pinnacle of cinema—Shrek 2. Here’s the kicker: it plays DVDs, but it’s not picky. It’ll handle CDs too, so if you have a weird cousin who still burns you custom mix discs, this thing’s got your back. And you know what? It even has an AV input, so theoretically, you could hook up your GameCube or something equally retro for a true old-school showdown. Yes, it’s 2024, but there’s something deeply satisfying about slipping a disc into a machine and hearing it whir to life. It’s like feeding a pet that loves you back with HD-quality visuals. So, if you’re looking to reconnect with the glorious ‘90s/2000s vibe, or you just want something to annoy people on a plane when your screen glows bright during the cabin's "lights out," this is your gadget. Long live the disc!

First off this is my very first portable DVD player, so far I am very satisfied with this product. The picture is very clear definitely HD and looks At least 1080i. The whites and blacks really pop, so look no further this is a steal. The 16:9 and 4:3 ratio such a blessing. I like that you can adjust the hue, saturation, brightness, sharpness, contrast. Also you can even change the audio settings for 2.1 or 5.1. Lets move on to the audio quality, so how does it sound? The speakers have a great emphasis on the highs and no lows, but it sounds great. I don't know yet how it sound with headphones or a external speaker setup. The main reason I bought this was so I could play cds through my Klipsch 2.1 Promedia setup, which I will be buying at the end of the month. I will be updating later to further comment on the quality of that setup. Moreover, lets talk about the build quality. Firstly, it's so light in weight and it looks really good like it has a gloss paint job, I really like the black. The buttons are not to stiff or to Loose. In conclusion this is a great buy in video and audio. Should you buy it I would highly recommend. God bless you! Update I I really love this DVD player, but I encountered a issue when using head phones. There is a background noise when playing movies. Moreover, I called Amazon regarding my problem with the player, so they told me to contact Asurion. They are the company that I bought a 4 year extended warranty from, for I purchased the warranty off Amazon. Asurion assisted me well they told me that they cannot help tell the manufacturer warranty expires. They also told me that Amazon is responsible for the problem since I just bought the item from them less than a week. Furthermore, I contacted Amazon back they refunded me the money and had me return the product. In conclusion this is still one of the greatest purchases of Amazon, so with the refund money I will be buying the product again. I will be updating this review soon. Update 2 I received my 2nd DVD player and it did the same thing with the sound, for when movies and music have lower volume within the frame work of the sounds, vocals no beackground music. The important thing is how did it sound with my 2.1 Promedia Klipsch THX computer speakers, it's 149.99 it sounded better than the theater. Thank you I will be updating this after a while.

I bought this because the external DVD drive I bought for my laptop kinda sucked and I was taking an American Sign Language course with video assignments that required very clear images. I didn’t realize how bad it really was until I upgraded to this. The DBPOWER 10.5” unit was such a huge image-quality improvement, and it was a lot easier to carry around than a laptop and external accessories. I love that the screen swivels so it can be open like a laptop or flat for use in the car. The swivel joint is really sturdy so I don’t anticipate any difficulties there. The battery life is great and exceeded expectations. We used it on several car trips over Minnesota winter potholes and the DVD never skipped or studdered. The sound output is clear and there’s no distortion. It plays a ridiculous variety of formats- if you have it, this plays it. It’s a good size and not overly heavy, with easy controls. It came with all the advertised accessories and they’re nice and sturdy too. The packaging is seriously awesome. The bubble pouch is really clever and can be reused as a carrying case. Would I recommend this product? Absolutely. I’ll probably buy a second one since we have two rows of kids back there in the Pilot and the oldest one can only “Let it go” so many times. UPDATE: Blue Screen Of Death. So this is unfortunate, but my DVD player is now a big paperweight. It died at the beginning of June, right before I needed it to study for my college ASL finals. I had to go back to my crappy external drive. I am hoping for a swift response from the seller. I'll let you know. 2nd UPDATE: Contacted customer service. They were prompt, polite, and REPLACED my unit immediately with no hassle. So, despite the hiccup, I'm restoring them to 5 stars! Shout out to Karen and Ellaine for resolving my problem so quickly and easily.

Pros: Picture: Nice quality and resolution both on device screen and via AV cable to TV. Sound: Sufficient on watching through the unit. (Note: When watching using AV cables turn sound to 20 so that output is full and enable full volume adjustment via your TV remote.) Battery: Was able to easily watch an entire movie and listen to a full CD without running out of battery. Remote Control: Lots of buttons so locating what you need may take a little extra time and getting used to but works well. (Note if you pause the DVD or CD the system may hibernate or go to screensaver so the first time you press “play” there will be a slight lag as the device wakes. Pressing play a second time will resume play.) Quality: Device and remote are on par with other similar devices. Unit is light weight and easily portable and comes with home, vehicle power and AV cables. Cons: Remote Control: Audio: When listening to DVD or CD on headphones noticed sound of the machine functioning… a slight tick-tick/whirring in the background. You can really hear it with a CD during silent periods in between songs. I would assume if you listened to an audio book you would hear as well and potentially could be disruptive to listening. Did not notice this when connected via AV cord to TV. (I did not find it to be a distraction as the music or movie did mask the sound many times and once focused on music or movie sounds it was not as prevalent. Some people may find it comes to their audible forefront and could be intolerable.) Other: No USB or SD functionality was tested for this review.

This is a good dvd player. I must agree that the speaker is not loud at all but, if you plug in a speaker to the head phone jack it is great.

I usually do not write reviews but I had to for this one. I never knew the power of having a DVD player in my car until we had our first child and boy does this work wonders. Driving with a fussy baby can be difficult at times and having to be able to concentrate on driving with all the crying at the back is difficult. This product actually comes with a remote so its very handy for me to switch it on when the baby is fussy or turn it off when the baby sleeps and flip through songs while driving. You can adjust the volume, play, rewind, fast forward, next, previous and any of the settings using the remote which is awesome. The swivel screen gives you the ability to put it on your lap or put it on the headrest as needed. I hate having to carry a bag of DVDs around in the car and it gets difficult to change them while driving and this device gives you the ability to use an SD card and a USB drive which can play various formats. To top it all, they have the best service ever. I had an issue with the SD card slot on my device which probably got a bit loose along the way with extensive usage and was skeptical about contacting the company regarding this since I assumed it would be a while before my email would see the light of day but was surprised to see a reply from their support team within a few hours. I sent them a video of the issue and they gladly offered to send me a new device without any charge. I have had experiences with sellers where the product is very good but the service is bad but not in this case. Awesome product and service.

Bought this dvd player to listen to cds in my 2020 SUV with no CD player, it works great for this (you need a 3.5 Aux Cable) also plays movies and hand held Game boy (You will need Double Female RCA Adaptor for Games) sounds nice through the car speakers with a nice Clear picture on the DVD player The remolt control works great from any angle in the car. Played two movies and one DOA cd at high volume, before the low on battery warning light came on. I Like this DVD Player, It works great with everything and well built. My only Issue with this DVD player is i Payed Top Dollar for this, As it was Getting Delivered to me, It went on sale $$$ around 75% cheaper then i payed. Bummer! Should i send it back for refund, order the one on sale and wait too long for the all the shipping time for this to Western Canada. or just Keep it, Knowing its a Great DVD Player at that ??? me so sad

This player was excellent from right out of the box. On a full charge, had about 4-5 hours battery life. Colours on screen were bright and clear. Machine runs quietly and sound is clear and loud . Very glad to purchase this at a reasonable price, would've paid more for it ,it was full of features other dvd players don't have or are overpriced. Great value!
