Doesn't work
Can you please exchange it. Perhaps the one I received is defective.

Take it from a writer.
I remember what voice dictation used to look like. Voice recognition was erratic and it was a completely unreliable tool. This software, out-of-the-box and not updated, is still better than every other iteration you've ever tried.By absolutely no means am I saying that it is a completely perfect product. Installing was a pain that took me three attempts. The reason why I mentioned above that it isn't updated, is because the software fails every time I try. But, that doesn't mean that this isn't a great software. It is by far the most accurate voice recognition software I've ever used, and it makes me wonder if all of the other one star reviewers are not using a good enough microphone.I think most of the controversy revolves around people's expectations of this. If it truly was a piece of garbage software, how could it be number 284 on Amazon (at the time of this writing)? No, it's not going to understand 100% of what you say. Nothing can replace a grammar checker. But, it's going to save you so much time on your initial draft. It is highly important with any voice recognition software or speech to text that the microphone is good quality and is always positioned in the exact same spot and you always speak in the same volume. if you're on the fence, look into getting "the writer's guide to training your Dragon" by Scott Baker. He goes into a lot of detail, including what kind of hardware you should look for, and setting up multiple profiles in Dragon.If/when I am able to get the software to update I might update this review, but as of right now I'm completely satisfied with its quality.

The biggest garbage on the market (WASTE OF MONEY)
I purchased this software, in spite of reviews. I was hopeful, after having a computer programming degree, that reviews referred to consumer problems and not software problems. I installed the software and after a few minutes nuance website did not recognize my login information, my operating system did not recognize the parameters of the software. Nuance refused to provide support and the software kept crashing unexpectedly without typing one single character. There's only one review possible, HORRIBLE AND USELESS.I injured my shoulder, so the possibility of dictating to a computer was greatly anticipated. I am a college professor, so I was hoping this would be a solution to typing. Nuance should be ashamed of themselves, this product is absolute garbage. If you purchased this product, make sure to buy from Amazon.com, as you will be able to return it. Otherwise, you bought yourself a Lemon Dragon.

Probably Good for Specific Uses
Dragon probably works fine for dictations after it has learned your voice, but I needed to use it for transcribing a hour-long phone conversations. After the first one, I ended up with what was essentially an 11-page run-on sentence of a jumble of meaningless words. So now it's just one of those expensive experiments that will never be used again.

Multiple profile recognition on 1 computer
I've seen google and siri. Dragon outperforms them all. You can use multiple profiles for more than 1 person to use on same computer.

Keeps crashing
I had such high hopes for this product. When it works on my Mac without crashing (like once every 3 or 4 days that I try to use it) it's fantastic. But more often than not, it just crashes immediately when I open it. :(

Old version still powerful AND still runs on Mac
It is exasperating that Nuance abandoned its Mac customers. This is version 6 for Mac, the last they ever released. (For Windows, by now they're up to version 15.) This old Mac version still runs IFF you have an old-enough Mac to run it on. I just bought an old Mac Book with OS X El Capitan solely to run this software. AND IT WORKS FINE! Learning to use Dragone takes a fairly large investment of time and effort. But it seems to do a better job than Mac OS's built-in voice recognition. The Nuance controls are merely obscure (whereas controls for the Mac's built-in voice recognition are utterly inscrutable). Conclusion: this was well worth the effort to install this class software, and I'm very pleased to have purchased this software.

This software is no longer being made, or supported
This is the latest and last version of this voice dictation software for Mac. It works wel enough, compared to Version 5, but how long it will continue to work remains to be seen. If you have already used Nuance Dragon for Mac, this may be for you, assuming you an actually get a copy of the software. Otherwise, don’t bother. The company still makes software for Windows, and a few years ago when I was using that, it was superior to the Mac version, in my opinion. If you really need lice dictation software, you might want to purchase Parallels or similar software, and use the Windows version of this Nuance software. I don’t know how well the Windows version might work in Parallels.

Does not have the same functionality as Ver. 15 ...
Does not have the same functionality as Ver. 15 Individual professional. I had higher expectations for it in regards to functionality and accuracy. Spent a lot of time training and still many kinks.
