I'm quite sure my little bobbed-tail baby was the runt of his litter. He weighs about 10 lbs. But the large size harness fits in pretty well without a lot of adjusting. I didn't want to completely isolate him from the outside world, but I also didn't want him to be put at risk of sickness or injury. Walks together using this harness and leash was the perfect solution to the problem and was a good compromise for both me and the cat. He gets to enjoy the fresh air and mark his territory and get exercise, while I get the peace of mind that comes with knowing he's not in harm's way. For me and my kitten, this was a great purchase. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ My go-to cat harness *by A***R on January 29, 2019* I have used this kind of harness for many years, first with an adult cat and now with a growing kitten, both of which were very easy to harness-train using this product. The adult was 9 years old when I first put a harness on him; this harness and the bungee leash helped him learn to yield to light pressure when he neared the end of the lead, and this led him to ultimately be quite comfortable walking with a slack lead, pausing any time he felt pressure, and using a retractable ribbon leash. The bungee leash was much too heavy for my 5-month old kitten, however, so I use a standard lightweight 6 foot leash or retractable ribbon leash instead. PROS: This harness is shaped specifically for cats rather than dogs. It accommodates the special anatomy of a cat's shoulders (somewhat triangular), which makes it easy for the cat to walk, lounge, romp, jump, and sit while wearing the harness. It puts the front point of pressure comfortably at the chest bone, and the back point of pressure more snugly toward the shoulder blades instead of along the spine (which is where the more squared-off dog-style harnesses put it). The harness has several adjustment points for a good fit. The three sizes allow a cat to grow into new ones as it ages. The many color choices are a plus, although I would have liked a brown option, as well. CONS (and the reason this gets 4 stars): The top of the harness is snugged up to fit the cat using a sliding rubber grommet, behind which the leash is attached to a ring. This grommet holds reasonably well, but is not grippy enough to keep the harness from slackening a bit during walks. The slipperiness of this grommet and the natural litheness of a cat make it possible for a cat to slip backwards out of the harness if it gets panicky and rapidly spins as it hits the end of a leash (even the bungee one). Owners must be particularly vigilant to avoid giving their cat this spin-out opportunity while training the cat to walk in new and potentially unnerving places. While my adult cat finally learned to stop at slight pressure on the lead during walks, I accepted this spin-out tendency as an escape option whenever I tethered him in the yard on the harness (if something really scared him, he had a "way out" if he made a mad dash toward safety). For the kitten, however, this ability to back out of the harness because of the sliding grommet can lead to a loose, rambunctious, erratically moving cat, so every time I have him on harness, I add a small alligator clip behind the grommet to keep it from slipping. The clip is a bit cumbersome for him and a nuisance to use, although I can revert to only the grommet after he is trustworthy on lead.
