Superb product for a great shave
I must first state everyone's skin can be different. Therefore with any product like this you are using at your own risk. Now my skin is a razor's nightmare. My beard can be tough and my skin is very sensitive on the neck. I never shave without having razor bumps. I am sure many men know this feeling. Sometimes the razor bumps are worse and my skin can end up feeling burned after trying to get a close shave. I have found myself trying to shave very lightly on the neck during the dry Winter months where my skin is even more sensitive.Over the years I have tried just about every razor and shave cream/gel. Generally I always get about the same results. I just take the best results I can get and settle on that.I was lucky enough to get a sample of this forumla a few weeks ago. I was a little hestitant on it doing any better than my current forumla. So I tried it and was sold. I ordered this formula and have been more than happy. I feel like the razor and my skin are finally working together to create the perfect shave. This formula seems to actually work better than anything I have ever tried. I may still have a few bumps but it is nothing like before. I skin feels smooth and looks unscathed. Overall this is an excellent price for such a good formula.

Great Shaving Cream
First, let me tell you about my set-up so you know how to compare my daily shaving routine to yours and better understand my viewpoint of this product. I use the Merkur Safety Razor, purchased here from Amazon, along with Merkur Razor Blades. I replace the razor blades in my razor about once a week, so I get about 4-5 shaves out of each blade. I use a $14 badger hair brush to apply the shaving cream. Now, to the shaving cream. I love this stuff. Period. It really does allow a super close shave as the title of the product suggests. A tiny amount goes a long way, as it lathers up significantly. On top of the great shave I get with this stuff, it has a cooling effect on my skin when I put it on, which makes my face feel great when I'm done shaving too. I feel like my face isn't as dry when I'm done shaving, which is a great added benefit. This shaving cream is pretty awesome. At first I was a little concerned with spending so much money on shaving cream, especially for only 10 oz. However, a little bit of this stuff goes a long way, especially with a badger hair brush. A dime sized amount is all you need for your entire face. I expect that this product will last me a few months, which should make it about par with any other can(s) of shaving cream that I would have used from wal-mart over the same period. I promise that if you take the chance to try this product out you will be hooked, I know I will be buying it again. Thanks Baxter of California for making my morning routine better!

Do Not Follow The Directions on YOUTUBE on How to Apply It It
I have read a number of reviews on here and have come to one conclusion, the majority of you have NO CLUE on how to apply it. For starters, DO NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE YOUTUBE VIDEO SHOWS. I bought my first container of it from my barber, who showed me how to apply it. To apply it properly wet your shaving brush. Swipe your shaving brush across the top of it two to three times. You won't be able to see a cream on the brush but, it is actually in the water that you wet your brush with. If you don't believe me, just squeeze the bristles, you will see water come out with the shaving cream in it. Once the brush has the shaving cream on and in it, brush it on your freshly washed face. After all that has been done, you are ready to shave. If you apply it that way, a whole puck of it will last you at least four to five months.Note: I have probably the most sensitive out and have NEVER developed a RASH or suffered from razor burn.

Had Almost Damaged My $200 Silver-tip Badger Brush!
No foam at all! The description is misleading. This is not a brush cream at all! Had almost damaged my $200 shaving brush! Not recommended at all! Unless you do not care about foam!

Shave cream
It's a little different than what I'm use to,it doesn't foam up,and it can be a little messy, but i love the scent and it does help give me a clean shave.

Nice CREAM shave, not for use with brush
Let's be clear, this is not a shave soap for use with a brush. This is despite the company website that shows someone using it with a brush. I have tried three different ways with two different brushes to get it to work like that and it just doesn't. If you are in to the wet shave thing, this is not a soap for use with a brush. It is clearly a cream shave. That being said, it is a really nice cream shave. Put it on with your hands. It is very nice, good slickness, and very protective of the skin. I have used it with a DE razor and a couple different blades (Voskod, Personna, Feather). It really protects your skin, almost no need for shaving cream afterwards. It compares to Weleda Shave Cream. So, if you prefer a cream shave or have the need for one on occasion, or like to mix it up, or maybe travel with it when you don't have your brush....this is a very nice product. I ding it two starts for false promises on using the brush -- need to be straight forward with your customers. I am sure they are trying to connect with wet shavers, but just develop a wet shave soap!!

For the price its the best I've used.
I've been using this for over 8 years (back then they were in a pump bottle that left a weeks worth of shaving at the bottom). So its not cheap when compared to the stuff at grocery stores but its the only shave formula under $20 that doesn't leave my skin with a dry, irritated, or burning feeling and doesn't give my face acne or ingrown hairs. The tub makes it easy to use up all the cream. You don't need a lot of cream. I just use my fingers to apply it to my face. I generally let the cream sit on my face wet for about a minute or two before I ever lift the blade. One tub last me two months but I skip a day or two every week to let the skin recover. When I travel and forget to pack this, well I just don't shave at all.
