I liked the wooden quality and the pictures of the farm animals

The adults in my family often play dominos. The grandchildren watch an want to play, however, they are too young at 4 and 2 years of age. Ive been purchasing Melissa and Doug products since the birth of my first grandchild who is now 14 years old. The products are reasonably priced and are made to last, and they have. I now have 6 grandchildren and they play in the Melissa and Doug kitchen and put MANY of the puzzles Ive purchased over the years. I researched dominos available on line and MOST were made of cardboard, which I did not want. I was looking for the ceramic tiles like the ones us grownups play with, but the wooden dominos are perfect! Someone had given one of the grandchildren a ceramic set with pictures of different fruits. The problem with pictures on the ceramic tiles, with use the pictures rub off, so the wooden pieces verses the alternatives of cardboard or ceramic tiles with pictures, is going to work just right. I love their products and I have accumulated quite a collection over the years and I’m sure I will be adding more.

These are perfect for my toddler grandchildren who are beginning to understand matching games. Having a side with dots is a plus when we move to number recognition. I LOVE that the box is sturdy enough to use time after time. I ordered this item on a Wednesday and it arrived on Friday. Seems like a very good value for the money.

Very well made dominoes. Purchased for my 2 year old granddaughter who enjoyed matching the barnyard animals. The "traditional dots" on the flip side will ensure that the game will be played long after she's outgrown the animal side. Not sure why this was rated suitable for 12mos+, however. My granddaughter is very bright, with above average skills but she had difficulty with the game rules as written. If the idea is that a 12 month old could begin by simplymatching the images, there should be modified game rules for younger children.

Overall it's a beautiful set. The pictures are bright and engaging, the tiles are reasonably sized for little hands, they make nice clicking noise when place one on top of another. Fantastic sensory experience for my prescholler. However, there is a major flaw. The pictures and the numbers match. This means that eventually the child will remember what numbers correspond to the pictures, and will be able to cheat.

These are wooden double sided dominos. Animals on one side and dots on the other. Very nice and sturdy. Large but not too large and will be easy to handle for little hands. I bought them to play with my grand children. I am very happy with this purchase.

We played this with a four-year-old. He caught on to how dominoes were to be played after one sitting, and enjoyed the pictures. I felt it was unfortunate that the different pictures corresponded to the different ranks of pips on the other side, as I tended to draw the bones that would give me the pictures I wanted. If the correspondence had been randomized I would not have been tempted, and it would have been fairer.
