too noisey
The media could not be loaded. Everything was fine when it first arrived, but after a few uses, the fan made quite a noise, just like the engine

It's good overall.
It works good for now will have to see how it does over time and how long it lasts.

For performance, it is absolutely amazing
For performance, it is absolutely amazing, it has to be noisy in order to have a fan cools down your laptop!also has 1 to 3 fan speed.

Solid but not great…
I’m going to cut right to the chase…Here’s the deal with this thing:1. Depending on the laptop you have, your milage will truly vary. I think even AFMAT would agree here. I just bought an Alienware X17 R1, this is Alienware’s newest and slimmest gaming notebook and arguably their most powerful, thus it makes some serious heat despite their “Cryo-Tech” cooling architecture. There are a couple of things that hold this cooler back for maximum efficacy for my particular laptop:A: On the Alienware X17 R1, Alienware places their underside cooling vents at the upper left and right sides of the laptop (closest to the monitor hinge) and has blower fan vents on the right and left sides of the laptop (4 blower fans in total) and the right and left rear end of the laptop. Given where the underside panel vents are located, the vents aren’t perfectly positioned over the “heat trap” (cavity) of the cooler and thus some of the warm air takes longer to vent as the vents are partially obstructed by AFMAT’s seal track (this is the plastic track the seal connects to). Given this, I would say SOME 17” laptops will do better than others and that the very vast majority of 15 inch laptops should position well over the cooler’s heat trap cavity. Remember too, depending on how your laptop was designed (E.G., where the heat pipes and fans are located in your laptop), this will have a direct affect on how well this cooler works for you.B: Since the system works off of a seal concept, if you’re not using the fans, you’re actually trapping warm air under your laptop!! Sometimes I like to run my laptop for daily use on my cooler and I don’t want to turn the cooler on. I don’t want to be penalized for it by trapping warm air underneath my laptop. THIS SHOULD BE A HUGE CONSIDERATION FOR YOU. If you’re like me and don’t always run your laptop cooler fans but like your laptop to rest on it, this might not be a good choice for you. I wouldn’t say the AFMAT blower fans are super loud, BUT THEY ARE LOUD and more than loud, THEY HAVE AN ANNOYING PITCH to them even on idle/level 1. To me, this is a poor design and a missed opportunity for a $60+ air cooler. Laptop fans are already loud enough, you don’t want to double it, you want to minimize the noise while providing maximum cooling (maybe I’ll invent my own). I would love to see a thermal engineer design something and use some very quiet and airflow efficient fans. AFMAT could easily improve the design of this cooler.2. I think the manufacture makes some BOLD claims about heat dissipation but the truth is, your milage will GREATLY vary from the claimed temp reductions. To me, what you’re looking for more than temperature reduction alone is CONSISTENT TEMPS. In other words, if you only get a 3 degree reduction in temps but you also don’t get much hotter, then I consider this a win. I have had many laptop coolers over the years and physics apply, you’re only going to get so much cooling short of sticking a block of ice under your laptop (DO NOT DO THIS!!!).3. Finally, I think for some laptops, such as my Alienware X17 R1, a flattop cooler with a large 200mm fan would actually fare better. I say this because my laptop actually has “ridges” on the top and bottom of the underside panel. This not only slightly raises the laptop to allow for underside airflow but also helps “guide” the air in and out of the underside of the laptop. Kudos to Alienware for spending the time to think about thermal dynamics.Lastly, there is one really cool thing that AFMAT did with this laptop cooler. AFMAT includes little “fins” (they even have 3M brand tape strips on the back of them) you can attach to the back of the AFMAT so that if your laptop has rear blower fan vents like my laptop; the hot air from your laptop blower fans won’t be sucked right back into the AFMAT. The fins actually help to separate the airflow from your laptop and laptop cooler. I have done any testing yet as to how well this actually works, but I imagine it does make some material difference.TEMP REDUCTIONS: Honestly, I didn’t see the dramatic temp reductions AFMAT claims, but to be fair, I need to do more testing. The AFMAT’s foam blower fan dust filters impede hot air exhaust airflow at the benefit of reducing dust accumulation in the blower fans, so I believe you could achieve better heat extraction without the filters. With that said, I haven’t tested this but I also don’t suspect it would help considerably either (but it should some if you wanted maximum cooling). I will continue to test but I think you can bank on a few degrees of heat reduction with the AFMAT fans on full tilt and your laptop temps while gaming shouldn’t rise too much either (so you should be more consistent at a slightly reduced temp). If measuring temp reduction this way, you could measure the peak heat your laptop reaches under heavy marathon gaming (or whatever other processor intensive tasks you run) without the cooler and then measure your temps with the cooler on the highest fan setting. I think this is the best way to measure temps instead of just placing the laptop on the cooler at idle and expecting to see some miraculous temp drops which won’t be there. Conclusion: If you’re thinking about getting this cooler, I recommend you check if your laptop has cooling vents on the underside of the laptop. If it does, next take a look at where the vents are located and imagine where the laptop will make contact on the cooler. You want to extract heat from your laptop, NOT TRAP THE HEAT TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE LAPTOP. With that said, if you want to let your laptop just sit on the cooler and not necessarily run the fans, DO NOT BUY THIS COOLER. All you would be doing is trapping heat to the underside of the laptop and the hot air has nowhere to go. For my laptop, I would literally get better airflow letting it sit on a desk of table. If you plan on running the AFMAT blower fans all the time, then this cooler is fine. For my use case, the Thermaltake 200mm RGB laptop cooler is actually a better option. It probably won’t cool nearly as well as this thing could, but I also don’t have to worry about trapping hot air under the laptop when the AFMAT blower fans aren’t turned on.

Great price/performance
This cooler performs well, and AFMAT support is stellar. I love the design and the washable dust filters, and I'd recommend this product to others. I initially had an issue with the fans rattling, but AFMAT support made sure the fans were replaced with a newer revision that had better bearings. See the end of this review for highlights of the story. tl;dr is that AFMAT support is amazing, and it was their ability to satisfactorily, easily, and quickly resolve the issue that makes me comfortable recommending this cooler.I prefer the rear air intake over a bottom air intake, and the washable dust filters are a must-have (remove, rinse, shake out, reinstall). On low fan settings, the fans are pretty quiet, but on the higher/highest fan setting you'll definitely hear the fans blowing. I think it's well within tolerance, and I'd say it's within expectations of a pair of fans given the volume of air being moved on the higher speed settings.I found that the rubber pads on the adjustable "hooks" that protect the laptop from damage while the hooks hold the front of the laptop in place started to slide off, but a touch of Gorilla superglue allowed me to get those pads held in place without issue. I do have an issue with the rubber feet on the bottom of the cooler falling out. I'd superglue them in, too, except that I'm missing two and need to contact support to buy some extras. At first I thought that the plastic frame of the cooler would be cheap and easily breakable, but after months of use I find that it serves me just as well as the heavier, metal frame from the cooler that this one replaced. The light-weight material makes this cooler easy to hold/move/carry, and the design and airflow are effective in keeping the laptop cool.I have zero need for RGB lighting on my computing equipment, but since everything seems to have it these days, I'll mention that the light color selection is adequate. You can select from pink, green, blue, and "cycle" (where it smoothly cycles through all colors in the palette). If I could make improvements, I'd replace the solid pink with solid red and then increase the selection to the full ROYGBIV palette instead of just the three solid pink (or red), green, and blue colors. The issue that support helped me resolve was that within a month after purchase, one of the fans started rattling loudly. Support sent me a replacement cooler, and within a week one of those fans started rattling. After contacting support again, they reached out to the fan manufacturer and had them drop-ship to me two new fans with improved bearings. The only thing that looked different from the original fans was a "v2" printed on the label--I assume that to mean hardware revision 2. The fans have been running on full speed for months while my laptop does a bunch of encoding and the new fans are working splendidly. I highly applaud AFMAT for how well they took care of me, and I'm willing to try other AFMAT products or buy another one of these coolers in the future if the need arises. AFMAT obviously wants happy customers and will do whatever is necessary to stand behind their products and resolve any issues if they arise.
