Works great, though a bit expensive
This works great, though it is a bit expensive. The main issue when buying toner cartridge is whether the extra expense compensates for the potential extra problems from remanufactured cartridges.A problem with the DCP-9045CDN is that it starts displaying annoying messages about replacing a cartridge not when the cartridge is running low, but based solely on page count. So if you use your color copier mostly for making black-and-white copies, the DCP-9045CDN will tell you to replace the color cartridges long before they run out of toner. If you blindly follow its advice, it will cost you a lot of money. The key is the trick mentioned in another review here. With the printer turned on, open the front access door, revealing the area with the toner cartridges. Then press the Clear/Back button. A secret menu will pop up, allowing you to reset the page counts associated with different cartridges. For example, you can select the "C.TNR-H" option to tell it that it has a brand new Cyan toner cartridge with High Capacity. Then close up the door, and you're ready to go!Of course, you have to monitor the quality of copies to decide when to actually replace a cartridge.

Seems to be original Brother cartridge
Seems to be original Brother cartridge. Just a note, Brother printers tell you that the cartridges are empty way before they actually are, but it is fairly easy to reset the counter so they will print again, a lot. Look up your printer model instructions on the net. I knew my printer is lying when all four cartridges started flashing empty at the same time - no way they all got used up the same! Seemed as expiration date was included.

Went back to buy these original Brother cartridges... off-brand cartridges just aren't worth the trouble...
After wasting nearly 3 months with 5 off-brand recycled toner cartridges, I've decided to come back to original Brother cartridges. From a price standpoint, Amazon pretty much has the best price for these (at least this model, which is just slightly more expensive than off-brand recycled models).Back in the days of inkjet printers, I always used cheap refillable cartridges, but with toner, at least for my printer (HL4040CDN), off-brand toners have just been headaches (2 brands the cartridges were already leaking as I took them out of their bag, 1 brand left a mess of black powder everywhere in my printer and had to have it repaired, and 2 other brands the colors were just faded).

Good toner
I've had my Brother printer for over 2 years and this is the first time I've had to change the toner. I print quite a bit of volume, so I've been overall impressed. I know they sell xl cartridges for about double the price, but for me, there wasn't a need. Works great as described. Great value for the price and much less than retail stores.Only downside for me was that they dont include a return shipping label in the box to send back the old cartridge for recycling, You have to navigate the Brother website to print the free return label.

Come down in price PLEASE!
I just wish all these toners were cheaper. I have been able to "turn back the dial" to get more out of the toners - but still. I go through a lot since we homeschool and I print a lot of stuff. Plus we run a business where I print a full color tri-fold brochure when I need to so we can go through some toner even though we are just at home.

Does the job you need them to do
Amazon does a great thing with these cartridges...makes them available cheap and fast. My Brother HL-4040CN gives NO notice when these cartridges are getting empty...just a pleasant no more printing for you until you replace all 3 of the color cartridges. Free 2-day shipping with Prime is great when you realize you can't print anything until you get more of these toners.

Why does ink & toner seem so overpriced?
I paid $550 for the Brother 9840 MFC printer. I've paid more than that for replacement cartridges. They just don't seem to last very long. The 9840 will tell me to replace a toner cartridge, we're not heavy printers, its in the home office. There are some tricks to "fool" the printer into thinking the cartridge is still good, but it only slightly extends the life. I will definitely buy genuine Brother cartridges after poor experience with knock off brand. I guess all printers cost to much to keep in ink and toner.

Works exactly the way we need it to
We purchase toner for our Brother All-in-one about once every year. Obviously, some of the colors we go through faster than others, but overall, it averages to once a year. We tried the refilled cartridges and were not happy with them at all. They tended to leak and streak and cause us more down time than the savings was worth. No, we are happy with these and we aren't going back.

Don't bother with refilled cartridges. Half the time they leak and while replacement is free, you have to clean the machine over and over. Stick with these new ones.
