Great tool
Never jams up. Replaced a Ridgid 15ga due to all the issues of jamming up every 10 nails. Makita is absolutely superior in every way.Weight, depth adjustment, ease of use and durability.

Professional grade.
Makita tools are definitely at the top of the food chain. I’m a professional interior trim carpenter, and this finish nailer has worked perfectly. Sinks nails with no problem in solid oak stair treads, if a nail gun can do that without fail consistently you have a winner. I would definitely purchase another one. Only complaint is with the rubber grip around the handle it is not well designed it ripples and becomes aggravating almost immediately. I solved the problem by using a high quality batting tape wrapped tightly around it. Which in effect actually gives me a great feel and a sense of better performance. Other than that it’s a great finish nailer.

Light weight yet powerful...
This gun is very light for such a large nailer and drives 2 1/2" nails with ease...I prefer the aluminum magazine over the new plastic fad designs and the nail guide slides smooth and tight...The trigger is also smooth with no jerking that some cheaper models exhibit and the sequential trigger selector is equally smooth...I only use Lucas Air Tool Oil after years of trying others...The Lucas Oil really sticks to the parts and never blows out the exit as some oils do...For new guns I add 10-15 drops of Lucas and then run 25 or so nails and then add another 5 drops and repeat...The fact it uses oil and has a aluminum magazine were two of the prominent selling points for this Makita..Oil less designs just don't last as long before the seals give out whereas a Lucas Oiled air tool will last years...The extra air blower is nice as is the sequential trigger select along with the dry fire lock out feature...The entire gun just exudes quality with tight fitting yet smooth functioning parts...Tradesmen who use tools on a daily basis will understand these attributes...Overall a professional quality nailer with many desired features that will last years with proper care...kd

GREAT finishing nailer - best I have ever used!
This gun is fabulous! Easy to set up easy to use! Very light weight and drives a 2-1/2" nail through oak with no hesitation. The depth setting feature is great and I strongly recommend a few practice shots to adjust the drive strength so as not to over drive the nail - works like a champ once you do. I note that when the nail stick gets low - 5-6 nails to go - the gun stops firing. I think this is to prevent a jamb in the mechanism which, once you get used to it, is a great feature. I would rather add nails than clear a jamb. However, if a jamb were to occur, the clearing mechanism makes accessing the breach simple. I really like the 34º angle design. It makes getting into corners and around tight areas easier. The foot is made to be somewhat flexible, enabling angle shoots which is a bonus - no more struggling to defeat or wiggle a hard safety foot into tight spots!Very impressive features for a finishing gun priced at a very reasonable amount - AND it is Makita!! Does not get better than this!!

Excellent top line nailer
Makita AF635 2 1/2 finish nailer. Excellent build quality. Owned 3 years. It will drive a 15 ga. 2 1/2 long nail just below flush when nailing two 2 x 4s together. Im running 100 psi through 50 ft of 1/4 air hose. You can adjust the depth with the turn wheel and/or adjusting the air pressure according to your needs. Dont understand these negative reviews. These idiots are either reviewing the wrong gun or to stupid to to set and use the gun. I have been buying Makita tools for over 40 now and own in excess of 15 different tools. Mostly cordless. All of their tools are top line quality and hold up for years. They are a little pricey. But well worth the cost.

If you're in the market for a nail gun this is the one you want.
After 4 months of using this gun 5 days a week I can say it's the best I've found at any price. It's light, powerful and just has a good feel to it. It's got every feature you could ask for, like quick nose access to clear jams (which I haven't had to use once yet), easy depth adjustment and a dry-fire lock out. Even though it's very light the quality was evident the first time I used it and it is very consistent whether nailing 1 inch thick white oak and walnut treads, or much softer stock. If I had to nit-pick, the built-in air blower is awkward to use compared to some other gun I've used and not very useful.A month after I bought the first one I purchased 2 more. Makita got this one right.

good nailer, dumb joist hanger
i've used this nailer for two weeks now and it works just like it should. i have had a few jammed nails but most could probably be attributed to the cheap nails i was using. after buying a pack of Senco's i haven't had a nail jam. all the jams cleared pretty easily. the nail loading is pretty good - the bump-nail setting is pretty sensitive and sometimes shot 2~3 nails for me - i don't need bump nailing, i just wanted to try it. the joist hanger hook is mounted in a weird spot due to how close it is to the grip. i am right handed and in some trim nailing applications the hook was in the way - i will often use my left hand to shoot nails too - the hok wont really let you hold it if you are a lefty. i unbolted it and tossed it. problem solved

What's not to like?
Hard to believe there are any negative reviews on this gun. Its almost perfect. I've been using Bostitch guns for the last 20+ years, but I got tired of them jamming and breaking down all the time. The Makita has been a very welcome addition to my tool lineup. I've gone through ~ 9,000 nails with it so far, no jams, no skips, no problems of any kind. Its lightweight, well balanced, and consistent. USE THE SENCO NAILS THAT ARE MADE IN THE USA, and remember to oil it (not oiling guns is the main cause of problems, that's on the user, not the manufacturer) and its about as close to perfect as you can possibly get. The price is excellent too.
