Q: How wide is the seat?

The seat bottom is 16 inches wide at its widest point and the seat back is 19 inches wide at its widest point.

Q: Will this work on a Hobie mirage ?

Yes it will. I have an older mirage outback and this seat fits perfect. However, I did need to add four pad eyes for the mounting straps. The ones that came on the Hobie we’re not mounted in usable spots for this seat.

Q: Is this goid for someone with a bad back back

The extra padding and stiffer seat back would definitely help with back pain.
