Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

How would the world react to an alien being, seemingly invulnerable, suddenly living among us? 18 months have passed since that fateful ending to Man of Steel. The world has, to a certain extent, grown used to sharing the planet with Superman, but doubts still remain over his true intentions and no one is more suspicious than Batman (played expertly by Ben Affleck). He has no trust at all in mankind, so an alien has no chance. And he has a point. If Superman was to decide to fry us all he could without any resistance. It's a scary thought. What if Superman was to turn against the human race? What could we do? Well Lex Luthor (perhaps the most irritating character ever portrayed in a film) has a plan but that plan involves turning the already fearful and suspicious Batman further against the man in blue by manipulating the world around them. He brings them together, sets things in motion, and ultimately forces the two protagonists into a fight to the death. Black v Blue, Man v God as Lex puts it. It's a subtle take on our own real-world conflicts and it works very well. The reason for the end of the fight is a little questionable, but I can let that slide. Wonder Woman is, of course, introduced in this film as are several of the other characters from the DC universe. Aquaman (thankfully not the same as the one portrayed in Entourage), Cyborg and Flash all make brief appearances setting the tone for the next film. It's well done and doesn't appear forced at all. Henry Caville does another excellent turn as the conflicted, confused and quite often misunderstood Superman. He doesn't have many lines in this film with a count of just 42 so he can mostly be seen using facial expressions instead but he's more of a supporting character in this film with Batman taking most of the limelight this time around. But it's still an excellent performance that sees him go from the persecuted to worshiped as the film goes on with convincing turns at each step. All in all, if you're looking for something to sink your teeth in to, something that offers the escapism of a superhero movie but that also throws your way a more meaningful and thought-provoking spectacle than just two men hitting each other then I cannot recommend this film highly enough. Yes, there is violence aplenty but it's all there for a reason that the other superhero movies don't give you. This is dark, menacing, expertly written and directed and should not be missed.

If you have already decided that you are not going to like a film before you watch it, then why bother to watch it? Too many of the sniffy, nit-picky reviewers here had clearly approached this film in that way rather than watching it for what it is. I thought the actors who played the main characters were excellent. Batman is meant to be a brooding, dark person of few words and I thought Ben Affleck did a good job, this is not Lego Batman, but serious crime-fighting stuff. I also thought Zack Synder did a superb job of what must have been a difficult and technically complex film to realise. The set-piece fights look awesome. The music also deserves a mention, it was just right for the film and also very moody or uplifting as required, I think I could happily listen to this as a soundtrack alone. Avast ye, Here Be Spoilers! I think that some people decided not to like this film because at times it seems critical of superheroes and, of course, it pits Batman against Superman. When Lex Luthor blows up the Capitol and leaves Superman standing in the inferno, at first I thought, "Oh no, I hate this, everyone is going to blame Superman" but, although some did, the consequences were well handled and thought-provoking, it was a great scene. A highly entertaining movie and a nice introduction to Wonder Woman. I have not seen the Wonder Woman film at the time of writing this. When I saw the early promos, I was not sure about Gal Gadot in the role. Now I am convinced! At the end when they fight the Krypton Creature, she holds her own very well with some great fight shots. I also look forward to Justice League.

What can I say? Just like Man of Steel, I love this movie. Some may frown upon DCU not doing as well Marvel, and I can happily disagree on that. I think that DC are doing something unique in their own way and voice, while Marvel also do the similar in their own voice and way, and that's great and awesome for all fans. You can like both and other wonderful worlds, and you don't have to choose one over the other, as some feel need to do. I like to call this movie Super Bat, for its a rare thing to have two iconic superheroes on the screen like this and have it work, so well. By all means, watch Batman vs Superman and enjoy it for what it is. Enjoy it and please don't compare its suit and cape to any other, that fits other super heroes. Its got a good story feeding from previous tales, awesome acting and action, and wonderful special effects. Its cast and crew did a great job, in bringing this world to life. I love it. Hopefully, when time comes I'll sit down and marathon watch all of these movies in one weekend, I'll look forward to doing so. Well done, WBDC. Pat yourselves on the back. You did good. X^ ^X

Wow! Not what I was expecting. After all the negative reviews I was expecting something cliche'd that made no sense. And with characters who were not engaging and seemed to have no to little reason for their actions. I think it was the complete opposite. And even when it got to the over the top actions scenes at the end I felt there was justification and reason for it. The cinematography was very good, the whole feel and look of the film was very high quality. It lacked the camp, childish and goofy feel of the Marvel films. It was not as dark and realistic as Dark Knight, but somewhere in between this and the Marvel films. I actually preferred the style to the Marvel movies. It asked big questions that would be asked in real life if we did have a super human being like Superman. I thought the plot was good, it was quite philisophical and a lot smarter than most marvel films. It was an ethical conundrum and batman is jaded and old. Very cool film! Totally immersive.

Let me start by saying now for those who will not read all of this review, that the issues I mention below are in my opinion, sorted out in the extended version which is far superior and what should have been released in theatres. I saw this in the cinema and liked it but it could have been much better, first because this is really a Batman movie with Superman in it (the extended version balances this out) he almost felt like an extra, most of the character development is given to Bruce Wayne. The storyline seemed in places disjointed and as I said above unbalanced this is really the weakness of the movie from which all The issues come. (Again rectified in the extended cut) For some reason Ben Affeck's casting as Batman seemed unpopular, but honestly he dominates in all the scenes he's in with or without the Bat suit. What I loved most about Synder's take on the Batman is how he has peeled the layer off the character that never truly makes it into film, he shows that The Bat is truly terrifying, Affeck's portrayal of the character IS someone that you believe criminals would fear. He is driven and ruthless. The opposite of Cavell's Superman hence the lead to tensions but again I feel this is handled as well in this version and it seems like a quick jump to the falling out. The action pieces are top notch and the Batman fight scene in the warehouse! That is, in my opinion the best on screen Batman fight every shown in any Movie featuring the character! even in this version!!! The special effects are what you would expect, standout Fantastic and great to look at and the big shown down is as good as I hoped. We get and introduction to Wonder Woman brilliantly cast and played by Gal Gadot who has the BEST "action" entrance of any of the main characters in the movie near the end. As I'm writing this I'm remembering what I enjoyed about the movie but I would say. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS AND YOU WANT TO WATCH IT, SO YOURSELD A FAVOUR WATCH THE EXTENDED VERSION TRUST ME IT IS WORTH IT

I'm going to keep this brief. I loved this film, truly loved it. I found that most negative reviews have been about an expectation of their characters and story of Batman v Superman to be the defining flaws they find within the film. Lex Luthor wasn't the stoic business man they were expecting, they hated it. Batman wasn't the strict but golden hearted man, who would never kill out of some strange moral code, they hated it. Superman wasn't iron strong in his beliefs and forever the optimist in human kind, they hated it. What I found is each of these characters were in a spot which was just outside of their normal character traits and this film proved the turning point for them to become or re-become that quintessential super hero. Batman is passed his prime, and after years of being tormented by various villains and losing one too many close friends and family members, he has all but given up on saving those who do wrong. He is in the game because he saves the innocent, and be damned with the guilty. Superman is yet to find himself, still tormented with the death of Zod and his battle for identity. Between the human who loves Louis and the alien who has become both feared and revered. Lex is the arrogant know it all, who thirsts for power, but isn't quite mature enough yet to take it by more practical means, and thus the throws en-genius tantrums against society and those he can't control. This story is a battle of ideologies, Superman trying to save a world which he doesn't believe wants him, and batman living in a world which wants him but he doesn't believe can be saved. The fight itself is short, but the fight is just a representation of the climax between the two, and to remove spoilers, i wont say who won. But the man or alien who believed in their cause stronger, took the win. The action on all ends of this film was brilliantly choreographed and I personally had no trouble following any of it. This film more than any other felt like gods battling among-st us. By the end of the film, Batman had a small part of his soul restored, faith in people to do good slightly restored and a glimmer of prime batman flickered at the end. Superman understood that this world did need him, and the world responded in kind, his faith restored stronger than before. Finally, I'd like to add, unlike a Marvel film, which I do love. Please look at this film with depth, think about each characters actions and the acting on display. Don't watch this film with preconceived notions of how they should behave, because this is a lived in world, prime batman has come and gone, prime superman hasn't even begun. This universe has started itself in the middle of a real world, rather than the beginning of the world, like with Iron-man. The acting was superb, the CGI for 90% of the movie was on point, major risks which we have yet to see from marvel have been taken in this film and it honestly feels like a refreshing breathe of fresh air. Although i don't require it, i do wish more critiques saw it the way I did. I do hope this bad spell for DC doesn't dumb down their future content and they manage to find a suitable middle ground for future films. 10/10, The night is darkest before the dawn, I cannot wait for suicide squad, wonder woman, infinity war part 1 and the rest of DC's cinematic universe.

Ignore the critics, this is ambitious, intelligent, and ultimately titanic in its action sequences. If it has a flaw, it is simply one of pacing. It spends a little too long setting up the story, and then it feels a little rushed when everything kicks off. Of course, you can't take action sequences slowly, they are, well, action sequences. But even while the fists are flying there is storytelling being done, and it is that storytelling that feels a little rushed, not the fight sequences themselves. The bigger picture unfolding behind the climactic punch-up needs, perhaps, a little more fleshing out to feel completely credible. But, all things considered, I found this very powerful viewing indeed. And why should we not be asked to think a little before all of the punching starts? This is not written for children or idiots, the creators of this have really tried to create something both intelligent and HUGE. And to a fair degree, I think they have achieved that. It is, I suspect, ahead of its time. Watch with an open mind, and it might just be pleasantly blown. 1970s superman, this aint!

Coming to this film long after its release (2016) and having seen very little DC since .. this film did what was expected with enough good acting and faaaairly intelligent script to balance up that it is at heart a super hero cape fest. Ends up with a typical slug fest where most of the intelligent build up is kinda wasted ... but Afleck & Cavill worked well and the action sequences are well shot Felt a little bad for Amy Adams'Lois Lane ... started off as an intelligent character with good agency but by the end was pretty much an accessory And Laurance Fishburne was completely wasted on this!! Oh and Gal Gadot has a few scenes making her mind up to actually do something!!! So if you're up for an alpha male head to head and especially if you're a fan of the Frank Miller original comic you'll should have some fun with this!

Hey Leute, ich finde es manchmal wirklich mühsam diese Rezensionen zu schreiben. Bei neuen Produkten die vielleicht auch noch viel kosten, sind diese Rezensionen echt Gold wert. Bei solchen subjektiven Angelegenheiten wie Filme, nicht unbedingt. Jetzt aber zum Film:) Ich bin großer Fan von der Figur Batman und mag eigentlich alle Batman Verfilmungen- auch wenn nicht alle gleich gut sind. Ich sah diseen Film am 24.03.2016 bereits im Kino. Das war mein letzter Arbeitstag vor dem Urlaub, gepaart mit dem riesen Hype der um den Film im Vorfeld gemacht wurde , hatte ich den ganzen Tag schon eine mega mäßige Laune und eine riesengroße Vorfreude, wie ich sie noch nie zuvor vor einem Film hatte. Diese Kombination mache ich nun dafür verantwortlich, weshalb mir der Film damals nicht so sehr gefiel ! Ich fand den Film lang, ich fand den Film wirr, ich fand die Story nicht gut, ich fand die Darstellung von Luther alles andere als lustig. Der Film wirkte unfertig, wie eine aufeinander Reihung von Schnitten ,auf mich obwohl der Länge von 2 1/2 Stunden. Dazu kam noch dass der Zuschauer also auch ich, dazu genötigt wurden, den Film in 3D zu sehen, obwohl der Film nicht mal nativ 3D gedreht wurde. Ich war echt enttäuscht und schon traurig angesichts des riesen Potenzials das man hier so einfach weggeworfen zu haben schien. Denn, hey Leute, das ist nicht einfach nur eine Comic Verfilmung oder irgend eine Figur, es ist BATMAN UND SUPERMANN in einem Film ! Wie es sich gehört für einen großen Fan, habe ich mir die Blu-ray trotzdem geholt und bin mega froh, dass ich es getan habe! Freitag angekommen und am slben Abend angesehen. Das Bild ist der Hammer! Der Ton ist super klasse ! Kein Vergleich zum Kino 3D Bild. Danke an meinem Sony 4K und an meine Sony Soundbar. Also aus technischer Sicht gibt sich die Blu-ray keine Blöße. Dabei denke ich an Batman Dark Knight Risses. Da ist das Bild auch schon sehr gut, aber die deutsche Tonspur unter aller Güte. Ich war vom Film diesmal begeistert. Ja, ihr habt richtig gelesen. Im Gegensatz zum ersten Mal bin ich ganz entspannt an den Film gegangen und ohne riesen Gefühle, wie zuvor beschrieben. Aber das ist nicht alles. Denn nun bekam ich den richtigen Film zu sehen. Ich spreche hier von der Version plus 30 Minuten. Im Kino noch dieses Gefühl von Unvollkommenheit und von Szenen die mehr Fragen aufwarfen als beantworten konnten, ist nun nichts mehr zu spüren. Der Film ist jetzt viel logischer, runder und verständlicher. Die Hintergründe, die Beweggründe sowie die Rahmenhandlung werden nun endlich klar. Juhu ! Es entsteht eine so viel bessere Erfahrung die man nur versteht, wenn man es selbst gesehen hat. Durch die 30 Minuten wirkt der Film keineswegs länger als die Kino Fassung, sondern kürzer ! Als der Film nun zu Ende war, war ich wieder traurig, aber diesmal darüber, dass ich gerne weiter und weiter gesehen hätte. Leute, schaut es euch einfach selbst an oder last es sein, aber vermiest keinem den Spaß an dem Film, in dem ihr ihn einfach kaputt redet oder schreibt. Ich freue mich nun riesig auf justice league. Viel Spaß beim schauen.

Una versión extendida que es la que imagino Zack Snyder y la que no le dejaron estrenar en cines. Una maravillosa cinta de superhéroes donde nos introducen al GENIAL Batman de Affleck de una manera tan medida como acertada. Cavill esta otra vez enorme y ver enfrentados a los dos mejores superhéroes de la historia en una cinta de acción real es un sueño hecho realidad. También nos presentan a Wonder Woman entrepretada extraordinariamente bien por el ángel que es Gal Gadot. Además este caramelo viene envuelto en esta ocasión en un steelbook que es una maravilla absoluta al alcance solo de unos genios como son Mondo. La versión es polaca pero el audio y subtítulos están en varios idiomas, entre ellos el castellano.

Cercherò di non dilungarmi oltremodo sul film, a mio avviso bersaglio di critiche eccessive e gratuite: Zack Snyder ci ha proposto una visione accattivante, originale e molto fumettistica (il pregio migliore per un film del genere, visto che esiste grazie ai fumetti...) di questi due supereroi, probabilmente I supereroi per eccellenza... Superman, in questa storia, è un eroe divino che divide, che non mette tutti d'accordo (esattamente come il pubblico nei confronti della pellicola). Batman è in un'inedita versione più "anziana", più provato e stanco ma potentissimo, rabbioso e sempre devastato dal suo trauma d'infanzia: la prestazione di Ben Affleck è, secondo me, una delle cose migliori del film. Quest'opera ha il difficilissimo compito di introdurci all'universo supereroistico della DC Comics e credo che riesca tranquillamente in questo suo intento. Per guardare Batman v Superman dovete lasciare da parte ciò che avete visto con l'universo cinematografico Marvel, perché i confronti potrebbero essere inutili e fuorvianti. Qui troverete molta più oscurità, dilemmi morali davvero pesanti, speranza e paura che si intrecciano finemente e sfociano nel finale che non ti aspetti (niente spoiler, tranquilli). Visivamente strepitoso, il film è un'opera coraggiosa che, come ogni pellicola, può avere i suoi punti deboli, assolutamente perdonabili visto il peso delle emozioni e informazioni che la trama deve portare sulle spalle. Passando al lato più pratico del prodotto, io ho acquistato la versione digibook, che mi è piaciuta tantissimo: si presenta come un libro che, aprendosi, nella sua prima metà contiene (incorporate) le 64 pagine estratte dal libro dedicato al film, che si può trovare qui su Amazon; nella seconda metà, naturalmente, c'è l'alloggiamento (non molto pratico per estrarre i dischi) con i due blu-ray. In un disco troverete il film in versione cinematografica (due ore e mezza circa la durata) con i contenuti speciali; nell'altro disco troverete la Ultimate edition, una vera e propria director's cut della durata complessiva di tre ore circa, con scene aggiuntive che valorizzano ancora di più questo grande film (è la versione che preferisco...). Molto bello il progetto grafico della custodia: il frontespizio è lenticolare, con l'immagine di Superman o di Batman che appare in base all'angolo di visuale. Il retro non è lenticolare ed è dedicato alla sola figura di Wonder Woman. La confezione si presenta solida ma per aprirla dovrete staccare il cartoncino esterno con attenzione e delicatezza: è attaccato con quattro punti della solita, fastidiosa colla. Inoltre, all'interno della confezione, troverete anche un concorso per vincere un buono cinema per la visione di Suicide Squad, che rappresenta il prossimo film dell'universo DC dopo questo. Vera chicca l'estratto del libro: ci sono disegni e concept dei vari personaggi. Il prezzo è abbordabile e soprattutto conveniente, vista la completezza di quest'edizione. A me il prodotto è piaciuto moltissimo e credo sia imperdibile per i fan del film, di questi supereroi e dell'universo DC. Super-consigliato.
