Q: What type of backing?

The mat does have a rubber backing, which does secure well on my tile floor. Although it claims to be washable, I NEVER put “any rubber backed product” in the dryer. Your purchase will always last longer if it is air-dried. This is my experience only.

Q: Can this be dried in the dryer on normal/high heat?

Needs to be low tumble dry or hang dried per manufacturer instructions.

Q: Would this holdup well in an Air BnB, with constant washing?

Agree with the other comments above that it doesn't wash well. We washed our 1/week, and the "rubber" in just disintegrated. That was just gentle was and dry with low heat. Other mats do just fine.

Q: Is this a quick air dry rug?

Yes. Even with 2 or 3 people taking showers one after another, it never gets soaking wet. I just hang it on the towel rack and it dries very quickly.
