Without a doubt the best pc headset ive owned
Without a doubt the best pc headset ive owned. It was meant as a replacement for my astro a40 headset. Cable feeds the headset into a usb that goes into you pc. You have to buy a separate adapter to use with game consoles and mp3 players. The other reviewer on here is a total idiot, I'm sorry, but this is a PC gaming headset and it is even listed as so. SO, I will say it one more time. This headset will not work out of the box to play on anything else other than a pc. Yes, You can puy a cable separately to get this to work with consoles but it WILL NOT have the dolby surround. The software needs to be downloaded on a pc for it to work. So if you still want to get one and use for console gaming I recommend getting the gsp 300 to cut back on costs( as it is the EXACT same headset). The GOOD-Loud, high quality volume-Excellent seal around the ears for noise cancellation-Headset does not feel too tight-split headband feels more comfortable then most other gaming headsets ive used-the surround sound emulation is very good-The best mic on a gaming headset I have ever used, period.-software is low maintenance and simple to use (to activate mouse feedback, surround off/on, EQ settings)-volume knob on headset is so convenient-raise mic to mute yourself-No noticeable hiss from the usb connectionThe BAD- heat will build up around the ears after awhile. As such with any noise cancelling headset.- I think the cable to make this universal would have been a better value if it was included-The microphone is a bit stiff and is definitely NOT "bendy"In BETWEEN- while the headset has a nice premium feel it is pretty much 98 percent plastic. This is super common among headsets to keep the price and the weight down, however some other headsets around the same price implement metal or aluminum on the headband. good care is needed for this headset.Conclusion- Sennheiser really lives up to its name with this one. I'm really enjoying this headset and it sounds better than my astro a40 sound system in my opinion. If you are on the fence about this one then pick this up, its worth it. this headset has been reviewed on youtube as well if you need the extra push to get past your skeptical side.

I have only had these now for a few days but they are a huge leap forward in quality than my older Steel Series headphones and much more immersive than even my existing 5.1 surround sound speaker setup for my gaming rig.Even with the Dolby 7.1 disabled and running in regular stereo mode, the sound separation, clarity and bass response is exceptional. I've often read of the legendary quality from this German company and I can now understand why they are so highly regarded. With 7.1 enabled you will enjoy even crisper sounds and better positioning which in games like Battlefield 1 will actually help your playing as you will be able to detect movement behind you much quicker than before.I do wish the software had a few more options for the equalizer settings as you just get 4. Off, ESports, Music and Game. Music and Game didn't sound too different from one another but ESports, to me sounded far too muffled.I love the microphone quality and handy auto mute function when you lift the boom upward. The right earcup mounted volume dial is very handy and easy to use.The headband is comfortably padded but out of the box the headphones did cause me some jaw pain for the first day because of the tightness. I should mention that I experience this with all new headphones though so its not specific to this unit. To remedy this, I usually place a new set of headphones around a small stack of books or something else wide overnight to help break them in. I did the same this time and by day 2 I was wearing the headphones for hours on end with no discomfort at all.At 139 bucks, these are not cheap but for me, the price was well worth it as I was in the market for a pair of long lasting, high quality headphones that offered 7.1 capability. This delivered on those needs and much more.

GREAT sound!
The first time I listened to anything through this headset I was amazed at how much better it sounded than my Razer Kraken headset (getting rid of that one now). The sound quality is crisp and you can make some adjustments via the included software to customize it to your taste a bit. I've only heard video reviews of the sound of the mic, so I can't so TOO much on that, but it does sound just fine in the reviews. I went to school for audio engineering, though, and I know that Sennheiser mics are very very high quality, so I'm sure once I hear my own voice through it that will be confirmed. They're lightweight and comfortable. I like the volume knob on the right ear cup a lot. The only 2 reasons I give this a 4 instead of 5 star review are the cable and the ear cups. I can't see wearing these for more than an hour at a time without having to take a 10 minute break. The faux-leather ear cups do get pretty hot. If there was a different material and they had cooling gel, they would be perfect. The only other downside is the cord. It's make of a cheap tacky rubber material that has SERIOUS cable memory. It twists up if you just look at it funny. You can alleviate this (if you're going to use them at your desk only) by stapling it up underneath your desk so that the only parts of the cord that you actually need are free and the rest are managed and out of the way. However, there are various mixed reviews (out of all the ones I've read) on all of these topics. This is just my opinion. I use for casual gaming and these are quite the step up from my previous headset.
