I have an old nutone 9417d that died... is this an exact replacement?

The housing dimensions are the same, but the internal parts are different. You would still remove the old one and do a complete replacement.

What is the difference between this model and the 9417dn? my the light portion of my 9417dn died, so this would be a swap out.

Don't know. But the most likely reason that the light 'died' is a thermal fuse in the neutral of the pigtail. It's a little tricky to replace, but probably easier than the whole fixture.

this fan has sone level at 4.0 on box, how can i lower it, can i insulate with approved liner?, on the inside, no glue just stick pins

Dear broan, why is the fan dependant on the bulb to operate? never seen wiring like this before. (no need to reply if you are not from broan)

i HAVE INSTALLED MAYBE A DOZEN OF THESE OVER THE YEARS. You can have tle light controlled separately from the switch if you want and have the ability. The thing is if you turn the light on and the unit gets hot, the fan will turn on by itself. The last one I installed, I have the light and thw switch on the same circuit.

Easy to install

This was very quick to arrive. We were replacing an old one of the same brand. Very easy to install no issues. I think it's even quieter then the last one we had!

It's not that loud! Works great! It gives off heat but doesn't feel like it's 90 degrees in the bathroom!

Great replacement for older model

We replaced an older heater extractor fan. I’ve included pictures of what the previous model looks like. Our ceiling has tile (previous owner) and so getting a bigger fan was going to require us to make a bigger hole in the ceiling and create a big mess. Because of the ceiling situation we decided to go with this models that would be a perfect fit. We purchased an open box and it was extremely reasonably priced ($30) and came with all the needed screws and materials. Just a friendly reminder to make sure you have a heated bulb for this and that you have electrician tape to make sure you are sealing Edges in the ducks. Also, we did not have attic access if that’s helpful. We were able to install it from inside the home.
