J Concepts 0084 ILLUZION Ford Raptor SVT, Clear Body for Slash 2WD

This is a great looking body that I used on my Slash to get some body clearance with 2.8 Proline Trenchers. Be aware that the body mount divots are slightly off. I was able to use the stock rear body mounts, but had to use the J Concepts replacement mounts for the front. The J Concepts mounts are thin and flimsy since they are designed to be multi-position. I broke one of them and had to replace it with one of the rear body mounts that came with it.It does come with very effective masks for the "glass" areas. I didn't have any paint bleed through. The sizes aren't exactly right, which drove me a bit nuts when I was applying them, but after painting it you can't really tell there was any discrepancy. The window paint masks are pre-cut for you.It comes with a large selection of decals, but be aware that you need to cut them out yourself. I don't know if that's a standard procedure with RC bodies. It comes with all the Ford stuff, which I don't particularly care about.I used Pactra paint, which seemed to adhere well and looks pretty good.I highly recommend a pair of Lexan scissors like these:  Team Associated 1737 Factory Team Body Scissors . The curved blade cut better and have better handling over good quality straight blade scissors. You have better leverage since the blades are smaller and the handles are longer. A hobby knife is good to get a rough cut (score then snap), but the curved blade Lexan scissors are much better for detailed work.Some people recommend a reamer for body mount holes, but I just used a regular drill bit and kind of worked it around to make it slightly larger. A step drill might work too.As far as durability - I've been using it for over a month, and it is starting to crack in places. I drive my truck HARD and frequently (skate parks, hiking, etc). I just started using drywall tape and Goop to repair it, seems to work pretty well.

I have a 4wd slash and although the main title says J Concepts 0084 Illuzion Slash 2wd Ford Raptor SVT, the Product Description reads, JConcepts Illuzion Clear Unpainted Ford Raptor SVT - SC - Body For 1/10 Scale Traxxas Slash 2wd , Slash 4x4. #0084. So I figured it would fit my slash 4X4. Well I would like to tell you that it can fit your 4x4 with the use of some provided body mounts, but it is not as wide as the side nerf bars so it sits above the truck or you can pull nerf bars off, or cut up the body a lot more and it will sit lower. I do not have a 2WD so I am not sure the difference between the 2 and 4 wd for mounting. Just know that it can fit your 4wd but is not made for your 4wd. Would I buy it again? No, only because it is not what I was looking for. The product is well made looks good and will take a beating, and I would think it fits a 2WD like it should. Can't fault the product for my lack of knowledge,

I usually stick with Proline bodies, but the quality was pretty comparable with this J Concepts Raptor. My only gripe was the lack of quality with the decals. Had to be crafty to make the headlights and grill work and actually used a few of the Traxxas and Proline decals to improvise.

If you think you're getting a complete truck for $35 bucks, you cray!! You will receive a beautiful clear shell, window masking, body stickers and some body posts, and some other paperwork i didn't bother to look at. The best part is having the option of painting any color combo you want. I painted mine pearl black with a wide pearl lime green stripe with 2 thinner white pearl stripes on the outsides. I also did a marble effect on the sides of the truck and faded the lime green pearl into the black pearl. Looks sick!

Fits slash 4x4 conversion with 2.8 MT tires. Keeps the body from rubbing on monster truck tires. Makes a slash into a mini x-Maxx.

I'm new to customizing RC bodies, but it was fun and turned out pretty well. I put this on my traxxas slash, and it looks great.

I did not realize how high up this body would need to sit on my slash. Plus once I changed to a low CG chassis for my 2wd I couldn't use this body.The quality of the plastic is great and it looks good on the vehicle.

I was pleased with the order as it was gift for my grandson who is 11,and enjoys playing with his cars.
