I ordered this thing, then did my research. Might not have been the best sequence there, but that's what I did. Spoiler alert: this is Greenwon's breathalyzer (yes, for alcohol), shipped in a different box.But that's not so bad! You might do better to buy a cheap breathalyzer at half the price of this one or less...but the thing is, many cheap breathalyzers show a fallse positive for acetone. So, they work for measuring ketones. Huh. Surprised me too. But there it is.Two more things worth mentioning:- You really need to blow out the last of the air in your lungs, or as close to that as you can get, to get results with this thing. What I do is blow out about half of my breath while the unit is warming up, then do my best to blow the rest of gently during the 10-second countdown. I rarely make it to 10 seconds (and a display that I can't see while in use is less than helpful), but whatever. I get a reading every time.- You might legitimately get high ketones via strips and a zero on this thing. Roughly speaking, urine ketones are wasted, unused ketones. In the blood, you measure storage of ketones. With breath, you get an idea of ketone usage. Lots and lots of things can affect all three, and they don't really correspond to each other anyway...you can't meaningfully convert one to another. (Note the "meaningfully" bit there. Of course people do convert. But they're measuring fundamentally different things.)So, in short, I would not have bought this thing if I'd done my research first. Nothing wrong with it really, but there are cheaper versions. Again, this is a breathalyzer typically used to detect alcohol. Greenwon did nothing I can see to modify it... it even has an alarm (goes off at .05) to warn you about your alcohol I mean acetone level.Thing is, if I hadn't seen this thing I might have wasted a couple of hundred bucks on a more expensive device. So they can keep the extra few dollars I paid, and I'm more than satisfied.Oh yeah, I wanted to say this one more time: yes, really. It does work. The directions that come with it are not useful. Oh well. Won't kill ya.HTH

This does not work! I do intermittent fasting with Keto and before this I used test strips. They always measured me at high. I thought this device might easier to use. I have tested it multiple times and it keeps giving me 0.00. I used my Keto strips afterwards and it tested me in ketosis.

I bought this product in June of 2020, it is amazing!I have tested it on keto friends who do a more relaxed keto, they measure at .01, I have tested it on friends fully in ketosis who test correctly and then tested on friends who are not in ketosis!Couple things.if you don't drink enough water, it won't workdon't drink alcohol, just too bad if you can't stop drinking it, but this isn't a device for you if you can't put down the beer!do not be dehydrated, I cannot stress this enough!run the test a few times to make sure it tests zero each time, then try it on yourselfdo not blow super hard into it, blow a long steady breath and if you find you can still blow by the time you get your result then let a little air out before you put your mouth on the machine.This is an excellent buy for the money but if you don't use it correctly then sure it'll seem like trash to you, but it is not!It's a little glitchy sometimes turning it on and off, but it really works very well and I'm extremely satisfied

If you’re into “recreational physiology” and ketogenic diets, this device provides a convenient way to check whether you are in a ketotic state. Not mentioned in the product description or package insert, this device also picks up alcohol so don’t expect to get meaningful ketone readings after you have been drinking. Indeed, my guess is that this device was originally manufactured as a breathalyzer and is now being marketed as a breath ketone monitor. But hey, seems to work, it’s reasonably well made, it’s inexpensive, and you sort of get a breathalyzer for free.

I never got it to work. My wife did, otherwise I would have given it 1-star.
