I'm on an extreme low-carb diet to control weight and lower my blood pressure enough to get off blood pressure medication. That's my goal. My recent physical revealed that I wasn't suffering from elevated blood sugar, high cholesterol, etc. Except for being overweight, which my doctor is blaming for the blood pressure, I'm in good health.Because I'm a nerd, and an engineer, I am keeping a log and collecting data while I'm dieting. I'm checking BP and BS at several times throughout the day. Specifically, I wanted to find out what the foods I'm eating on this miserable, boring cave-man diet do to my blood sugar. Also, since I do enjoy a diet soda from time to time, I wanted to see what effect the aspartame and caffeine had, if any on my blood sugar (in MY case, it seems they have little to no effect on BS). Anyway, that's why I got this kit, and it's an important distinction...for a diabetic, or someone who has to keep a close eye on their blood sugar levels, I think they need a device that's more consistent. I'll explain...Normally, my BS measures between 85 and 100. The highest it's ever tested has been 129...and that's well within the normal range. So, I can tolerate some variation. Usually, I test twice each time. The two readings are NEVER identical...not even when checking the device using the vial of control solution! And variances of 10-12% between the two numbers is typical...almost the rule, rather than the exception. When I got the 129 mg/dL reading mentioned above, the second test, less than a minute later, was 108! You'll have to judge for yourself if this is an acceptable level of variation for you. But for me, it means I use twice the number of consumables because I test twice each time, and take the average.This is my first experience with one of these units, so for all I know that's typical! Like I said, I'll leave the judgement up to you...I'm just presenting the results I'm getting with it. That said, I'll keep the unit, and continue to use it, but I'm looking for another one that's perhaps a bit more consistent!

As a registered nurse, I have a lot of experience with glucometers. This glucometer is easy to use, easy to learn, and the strips are economical to reorder. I was able to quickly check my blood sugars with minimum prep and it read out in 5 seconds. The amount of blood required was very small and the finger-stick device arrived set perfectly. It is adjustable for depth of stick from 1-5 and came set on 3 which was deep enough to draw blood and shallow enough for it to not hurt at all. The case holds everything needed but is a nice compact size which would be handy for traveling. Very happy with my purchase.

Really like how this product has everything you need in the kit and is affordable. I needed to buy one for my cousin who was runny low on supplies while visiting us for Thanksgiving week. Most of the supplies at the local Walgreens/pharmacy were quite expensive. This product was the best deal on Amazon and with prime shipping got it right away just in time. With the new meter she can use or keep in her emergency kit as well but she actually likes it more than her current meter. It came with a spare battery and really cute/discreet carrying case that fits nicely into her bag. I should have just said it was her christmas gift! So far no issues with the product. Would highly recommend and would buy again.

This is VERY unreliable. I just tested back to back 4 times and got a 78, 98, 101 and 90. All in less then 2 min from the same finger prick. If I could return this I would, huge waste of money since I also purchased the 200 pack of strips. I don’t use insulin so I wasn’t concerned if the exact value was off but I wanted to see a reliable pattern. Total piece of junk, DO NOT BUY

Couldn't beat kit contents for my money. Meter design's compact, smart. Kit's easy to use (quick start guide images) & painless, but YMMV.Good to see on-screen countdown of 5 secs, from the moment enough blood’s on the strip till the result appears. Confirms I haven't wasted a strip on too little blood for testing. Tested twice off the same blood drop with exact same result.
